George - Both of your power line shots are in my opinion, perfect. I can't pick between the 2. Good job.

the expression is cool! altough the colors are strange and the whole photo is a lil bit blurry.

Strange how the fisheye played with the railing... nice one, but maybe darken it a bit.

I love the hand.... it shows the frustration
Lemmingstone (Peter) said 1 year ago:
I think this is awesome. How much more in your face can you get? A bottle pushed actually in your face. Great job Manuel.
I see your point Kyla but I agree with Ana and think it shows the frustration. Love it.

Nice pic. I'm sorry, is this the self-portrait topic?
derLitograph (Manuel Waldhans) said 1 year ago:
ich denke nicht
VernonTrent (Vernon Trent) said 1 year ago:
@the lithograph
"in your face" is the self portrait topic.

du hast es in selbstportrait hochgeladen.
in "portrait of a person" wäre es richtig gewesen.

xLeave & Craig - Thanks for your thoughts. This shot has actually gone through quite a few stages of evolution - tighter crop, wider crop, B&W, lighter, darker.
In the end, I thought "what would make it stand out against all the other b&w, half-lit, negative space filled self-portraits?"
This was the result, which I'm kinda quite happy with.
ArneG (Arne Gulstene) added a critique 1 year ago:
Agreed on the comments above - I think that you could also try a hikey (sp) bw approach to this photo. Double "Oh Yeah" on the lighting....
Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 1 year ago:
I'm thinking black and white too. I think the skin tones are too ruddy. But I really like everything else about it. You are right though in your observation about the style being a bit repetitive for a theme like this. This is a slightly different take.
philippe (Philippe Reichert) added a critique 1 year ago:
Good light. Like Peter, I like the fact it's dark, and the negative space. The choice of the angle is interesting, too, and I'd like to see a version where you look at the camera.
jsmanseau added a critique 1 year ago:
I would love to see this in B&W also. Besides that its great, I like that you can see his left eye slightly makes it slightly more interesting (to me)

Who would not enjoy that? Watching the big city, but in quiet peace. Great shot.
Ana (Ana Cortez) said 1 year ago:
Yeah, I love boating...my kind of thing.... and flying down the Chicago River, or out on Lake Michigan is the way I enjoy the city.
forgingahead (Bob Foss) said 1 year ago:
I remember this one! Nice perspective on the city.

Love the colours and layers here.
Lemmingstone (Peter) said 1 year ago:
Philippe - This is great. All the layers, sky, haze and trees give a wonderful perspective.
philippe (Philippe Reichert) said 1 year ago:
Thanks Arne and Peter. I presume you've recognized LA, from the Getty museum.
Lemmingstone (Peter) said 1 year ago:
No problem philippe. LA has a great skyline doesn't it? I love how downtown just rises up on all sides.

Cheers, Brandon! I take it as a great compliment to receive a compliment, from you, yourself, the boss...lol!
philippe (Philippe Reichert) said 1 year ago:
I'm not sure you'lle take this a compliment, but I like it too... :O)
Very moody.
Nice and sharp. I like the minimalism here. Well done.
