Now that's the "king of the world" pose...but what were you thinking when you were standing there?
thoughtdujour (thought du jour) said 1 year ago:
umm....i had my camera perched on a tripod that was close to the edge of the lake..I was hoping that the wind wouldn't blow the damned thing "plop" into the water....!! :P
Ana (Ana Cortez) said 1 year ago:
now see? that's just the best.
Not, "I'm on top of the world."
Not, "I rock this world."
But..."crap, I hope my camera doesn't fall."
Now see? That just works.

Nice shot. Excellent colors and great reflexion. You probably should have centered the horizon to enhance the symmetry ;-)

Out of interest, what length of exposure was used here as the way the crap being pumped out of those plants actually looks majestic in a way :)
well done

my favorite in this category so far. the colors are rich and the movement of the smoke is soft and gentle.

OHHH MY! Where was this taken? Like everone else, I love the reflection and the slow exposure fumes being blown in the find. Its fantastic!

Oh yeah! I love this. My only complaint is that I wish I could see only a slight hint of the horizon in the top part where it is washed out. Overall though, I really like the feeling of disappearing into the distance.

This is a very strong image in black and white. Beautiful in every which way.
Ana (Ana Cortez) said 1 year ago:
This would look great with some grain and 'old fashioned' looking overlay.
BodhiBlink (Tom Bodhi Reeves) said 1 year ago:
I love how the horizon fades into the sky, a seemingly wide open expanse in contrast with the dark straight/curved line of the track with one way to go. I wonder about the edge building in the top left?...

This is beautiful! I love how the oily, dark foreground makes such a contrast to the sky. Beautiful picture.
The lost highlights are just a tiny bit disturbing, but overall the picture is good that it doesn't really take away too much.

Very nice. A great find and very well captured. Obviously the colour is striking, but I really like the perspective as well.

I love this kind of cut. I think that could be more color outside the window

@uncommondepth: Thanks for the kind words. If you are referring to the left edge that borders the significant negative white space, well there was no cut out of the background. The wall behind me was lit pretty hard so is it more an issue of blowout in exposure mixed with the shallow DOF (I guess)that caused the "roughness and pixelation". I liked the effect and therefore left it in ;)
uncommondepth (Roberta Murray) said 1 year ago:
My apologies then. I just thought it looked a little strange. Either way it's a really good image, which I imagine will be featured once the voting opens up!
bslomovic (Brant Slomovic) said 1 year ago:
No need for apologies at all, the criticism was constructive. Thanks again.

I was hoping to see this featured. I love this "selfie" of you.

I have been voting for this shot, as I really felt it told 'who' the person is, but is it a 'self' portrait?
stevecherry (Steve Cherry) said 1 year ago:
Hello - no, this is not a self portrait. Glad you enjoyed.
Best,
Steve C
I love the squarish framing around the photo - great effect - it makes my kinda dizzy. Very fun
