Not the most beautifully composed picture or anything, but it is the 'best' of 2006 for me because it was the evening when I got engaged :)

lbstone (Brandon Stone) said 1 year ago:

Congrats! I assume you did the ol' tripod + timer thing?

dontbrandme (S) said 1 year ago:

Yeah, we actually saw that the sun was setting at a really fast pace and ran all the way up the coast to our car to get the tripod. We were SO out of breath by the time we took that picture that it was hard to do a kissy face! And like two minutes after we tok the picture, the sun was compeltely down. So we got very lucky!

Very nice. Lots of little clues to tell the viewer how this space might be used. My brain can't help but create a story that takes place here...

In my mind, I see a person sitting in the chair reading a newspaper... and a dog chained up, laying on the mat, chewing a bone or otherwise napping.

All the elements, including the broom and flag, seem to suggest that this area gets used regularly and that someone cares about it.

I love this kind of stuff.

NeilSmith (Neil Smith) said 1 year ago:

Brandon's right, there's definitely an implied narrative going on here. A great image.

This is amazingly beautiful. The contrast of colors, as well as light makes for a really nice image.

that's beautiful! colossal shimmers..
how much have you retouched the picture? I'd like to know more about the setting - optics, shutter, etc.

congrats!

DanielG (Daniel Groszek) said 1 year ago:

esa: Lens used was a Sigma 100-300 f/4 EX @ 100mm @ f/6.3. ISO 200 and 1/4000 shutter speed. Close to no processing done to this shot, the blue colour was achieved by just adjusting the WB to a cooler setting. Other than that, just some sharpening.

Wow!!
