I like this very much, a unique take on a very common theme. Great tones, great compo, just really nice!!
JBridges (Jim Bridges) added a critique 23 days ago:
It was an interesting choice to do this in black and white. It's a shot that's been done thousands of times in colour, but the black and white adds a new texture to the scene.

Unless this IS a montage, it's one of the craziest pieces of architecture I've ever seen. And as such, I very much like it. The different parts of this building don't go together AT ALL, and you captured that very well. Beautiful in its uglyness.
Very well spotted.

i thank you for being completely honest with me sfkp and i can understand your views on the photo. This was actually taken at the San Francisco's new Academy of Sciences where fantastic architecture was found everywhere. I just happened to stumble upon this view as i was walking through the museum and thought that it would be an interesting capture and i really liked that it WAS different, and somewhat out of place. i described it as a mixture of greco-roman and contemporary influence, old meets new, something that was somewhat abnormal. And i can completly understand the hesitance towards the photo and really really appreciate your thoughts on the photo.
i completly agree with you afoklala. the rest of the builiding was just as interesting..especially the roof :] and i thank you for the compliments of the capture

The different building elements are very interesting, but I'm not too keen on the composition. Something seems lacking that I can't put my finger on. Without being there it's hard to say what could be improved. The layered/wavy ceiling grabbed my attention first and I was wanting to see more of it but then I noticed the other elements. Maybe it's the lack of direction but it's hard to distinguish what you are exactly getting at unless you explain it verbally. Maybe a less angled shot down the columns showing the concrete wall in the background with the wavy ceiling above would have helped or if you shot up at one of the columns with the ceiling in the background and the concrete wall to the side, but again it is hard to say without being there.

I too frankly feel there is nothing too great about this!
JBridges (Jim Bridges) added a critique 23 days ago:
There are definitely a lot of interesting elements in the scene with the mismatched styles and interesting colours and textures... but what is lacking is either a focal point or a flow for the eye. There are too many places for the eye to go and nothing to guide them.

You gotta love the wide open spaces and point of view in this one.

Oh I see. The only thing you could have done was choosing a different angle, so the sheadows were more obvious to be dropped by the sun.

that makes sense. thank you. :)
Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) added a critique 1 month ago:
It's still a really good image though.

This is a very striking image. All the more so for his direct gaze contrasted against the gun and barbed wire. I cannot help but wonder why this is yet to feature.
Ana (Ana Cortez) added a critique 24 days ago:
nothing features anymore on vazaar. it's closed.
But yes, I agree. This shot says a lot. Well done. I love his shirt!

Another one from last Saturday's sunset in the hills above my house. The buildings just showing in the distance to the right of center are skyscrapers of downtown Los Angeles. The other one from this sunset is:

Great color. Nice composition. What makes this image for me, are the electrical towers and power lines. Nice capture. I like this one much better than the other photo.

A little noisy image I think. Could do with some contrast too!
Afoklala (Jan Willem van Dormolen) added a critique 1 month ago:
The reflection in the window is too much. Too bad, would have made a great still. Great framing too.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 30 days ago:
I agree with Jan, but sadly, Apurva mistakes film grain for noise. Ah those young pups that don't know what film is...
mooch added a critique 24 days ago:
Harder blacks would make for a stronger contrast and subsequently more powerful image. I like the subject matter but feel you could really push this.

must've been a beautiful sunset to see in person!
sfkp (Tamara) added a critique 28 days ago:
Wow! Is it a sunset or a sundown? I saw the colors of a L.A. sunset myself and this pic brings me back to that moment!
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 28 days ago:
Yep, sunset, brown smog mixed with reds, yellows and magenta's. A strange brew for sure...
mooch added a critique 24 days ago:
I like this shot. Great tones and the landscape really does look vast.

I was two days in our capital vienna and had some time to take some photos. This picture is an HDRI taken from an exposure range of three images and shows a sunset ofer the "Donauturm" (Danube Tower) and the UNO-city with the United Nations. More pictures of vienna will be published in the next days on my photoblog: photoblog.fh-forum.org/?lang=en or on my homepage leetsil.fh-forum.org (german).

oh yeah, i didn't notice that before. they are a little bit different, huh? I also just noticed that pole on the far left, haha. funny I should only notice that now. thanks for the comment!
Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) added a critique 1 month ago:
I would crop the top so that none of the blue of the sky can be seen.
Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) added a critique 1 month ago:
Great image though, adore it!
boyd added a critique 1 month ago:
The depth that you have created in your image is really quite captivating, as is the detail in the trunks and branches. I also think that the toning that you have selected works very well to create a very strong image overall. Nice work.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 27 days ago:
I agree with most of the above comments, not sure about the one about the sky though. I like the relief it gives to the tones and hues of the main subject.
amazing shot!
looks out of this world!!
