This is the first time I used selective saturation! I just found out how to do that :)
The reason of the huge white border is simple: when I was finished, I found out the image was to small for Vazaar.

Hi Tamara, this feels a little forced to me, I'm not a big fan of selective saturations, but... The hand looks really flat, the tonal range needs some punch. The ring looks turned around some on the finger which gives the hand an odd angle.

Hi Clyde,

Thank you for your comment. I think you're right about the flatness of the hand(actually it's mine). And the ring is indeed turned a bit around. I did that becouse it was hard to make a photo of my own hand with a good visible ring. It was important to make the ring well visible, becouse origionally I made this photo for a website wich promotes my stephfather's goldsmith business (I'm the administrator).

Glad to know the circumstances behind this shot! Very strange at first glance - wow.

Hello Jon,

By 'strange', did you mean that in a positive or constructive way?

btw: however the image feels a bit 'strange', I like the result very much, and if I may say so... I'm a bit proud at the result after pp it. Please take in mind: I'm a greenhorn (experimenting wit pp for a few months now) and don't took any lessons in what so ever.

Greetz,
Tamara

Tamara,

Just being honest about my initial reaction - you are doing a great job for a "greenhorn!" The hand is very flat - physically and tonally - the blue really pops, which I imagine is the point. Keep up the good work:-)

Jon
