Thanks to all of you. I shoot most of my pic's in raw, indeed. I don't have a real version of PS and the skills to blend two layer together, if I do some real photomanipulation I use a program that came with my scanner. When I buy a new computer (and I think I also need a new monitor) I'll buy myself a version of PS elements, too.

Is that you headed west??? Hope to see you in SoCal soon, check your email. I like the "God Rays"! The image feels tilted, runs downhill on the left? Hard to tell for sure, the pole look pretty straight, maybe it's just a downhill section of the road. This might be a good capture to try a little tone mapping using multiple raw converts. You do shoot raw with your new camera don't you. You could develop on image for the foreground and one for the sky and blend them with layer mattes in PS.
