Nice shot. However, I am getting lost in the background. I would like to see the shot closer to the bird. I do like the off center of the bird and the perspective of size that the grass gives. The colors are also good.

@Pindakaas: Shot with a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM. A new Canon shop (www.canonline.be/) opened his doors at Boezinge (near Ieper). You could try all lenses for free. To enhance the quality of the trial, they arranged a birds show so you could take pictures of the birdies to get a feeling about the quality of the Canon stuff.

It's really hard to get a good angle on something like this, but without beating a dead horse, you've taken a beautiful shot and you know what you need to change...

You can't always help what gets in the way. You try different angles and see which one you like the best. I think it is nicely done.

Wonderful lighting and focus on the eye and detail in the feathers on its head. This is a great shot.

Overall a striking photo - the only criticism I can make is that the brightness of the white around the beak/combined with that yellow, isn't quite pleasing to the eye...but you can't always pick your subjects. And maybe if the beak were a little more in focus. But overall - well done.
