Scott, I have nothing to say! This is beautiful, fonderful, amazing, brilliant. Composition, colors and even those two on the beach all are great. Where photo was taken? How many shoots You use (one, two)?
Did you read the book of Margulis - LAB colors?

This shot was taken from the cliffs of Horseshe Bay on the island of Bermuda.

And how many shoots you used to creat this picture - one or more?

Did you read the book of Margulis - LAB colors?

ScottCrouse (Scott Crouse) said 3 months ago:

Good day Mikhail, this is 9 images combined using Photomatix. Shot from a tripod and a remote shutter. Nope, to be honest I've never read a photography book or taken a course or anything else. I like to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing ;-)

Scott,

So it is 9 seperate shots that are stitched together? Just trying to understand.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 3 months ago:

Photomatix means it was HDR. Bracketed exposures, 9 in this case, combined by the Photomatix software into a 32bit per channel HDR(High Dynamic Range) image and then tone mapped back to 16 or 8 bit for display/printing.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 3 months ago:

BTW, Scott, another very nice subtle use of HDR, lovely image!!

ScottCrouse (Scott Crouse) said 3 months ago:

Thanks Beamer an excellent explaination. Koo88, Beamer is exactly right, all 9 shots were taken within 1.5 seconds and ranged from severly overexposed +4.0 to very underexposed -4.0. If done properly you get an image that is very sureal. But with the software you can go to massive extremes or very light tones.

Enhorabuena por esta fotografĂa. Creo que ha empleado el angulo adecuado para captar una imagen increible donde tierra, mar y cielo forman un todo precioso. Saludos

ScottCrouse (Scott Crouse) said 3 months ago:

Thank you so much for the kind words Juan. I was sort of forced to the angle due to the cliff that I was standing on and the direction of the setting sun, but it worked out nicely!

Sensacional!! Felicidades, me encantan tus fotos.

Syam said 3 months ago:

I have to admit. You have a better pic than my sunset! This will be my favourite.

ScottCrouse (Scott Crouse) said 3 months ago:

Thanks Syam and Ana, this was a special one for me and the best in my collection for sunsets.

Wow. Spectacular shot, and thanks all for the great tutorial. I have yet to play with HDR, but this prompts me further to go explore it.

ScottCrouse (Scott Crouse) said 3 months ago:

Thanks Craig! If you get stuck feel free to e-mail any questions my way. Lots of good links out there on how to do this properly.

Very pretty but a little too dark for me

HuubL said 2 months ago:

Beautiful seascape/sunset shot. HDR seems very popular lately and therefore, for me it quickly looses its appeal. However, landscapes like this really gain from a modest use of the technique.
