Its a good photo but does not stand out that much. A photo has to have an impact on the viewer. The BW tones are nice and the composition is great.

@Christie: Well now, that's kinda the point now isn't it...? I am glad that you got the point. I am sorry that you feel it is a negative or a criticism. Emptiness or "negative space" in an image can be a very powerful tool for story, drama and impact.

Clyde, I like the bleakness that you have captured in this shot to show the devistation of a bushfire. I also think that the detail in the far mountains is very effective.

Fire stripped and charred this pine tree bare of its branches. Mount Baldy in the background. This was taken this past Sunday near Claremont, CA, shot on TX400 and scanned, a little exaggerated vignette and that's it...
