really like the composition of this with the road/yellow markers leading the eye

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 month ago:

I wonder if this would be better in B&W, the yellow seems to distract me a bit. I think you need to somehow focus the interest more to the clouds and mountain in the background. I think the B&W would help if you included in the conversion a little more "punch" in the tonal range of the far part of the scene. I tried cropping the bottom just above the closest yellow post by scrolling the image. I seems to help a lot too.

juanantonio (J.A. Pellicer) added a critique 1 month ago:

Es cierto que esta composición podría admitir otros tratamientos, en mi opinión el utilizado por usted para este tema/topic ha sido muy interesante. La carretera flanqueada por los postes amarillos, coincido con Amy, conduce suavemente al espectador entre un paisaje con una gama tonal encantadora. Enhorabuena. Saludos

boyd added a critique 1 month ago:

I like the composition with the yellow markers, but I also agree with Clyde that these don't really help within this topic. A b&w conversion might do the trick, but you might also consider this in "roads" or some other topic.

I think it fits into this category quite well.

Thanks Jim. If you both feel the square format would be better here, I'll try it out one day. Problem is that this is low quality scan of a print. Cropping would degrade the (low, I admit) quality even further. I'm still using film cameras a lot and to obtain the best digitals from slides/negatives, perhaps I should buy a neg scanner.

belle composition, j'aime l'espace que tu laisses en hait de la photo, cela donne une superbe profondeur, et avec en cadeau le reflet du chien, parfait

AmberDawn (Amber Sullivan) added a critique 3 months ago:

I like the lines created by the full-size (not square), makes him look impatient to get going to wherever that leads. The leash did throw me for a bit, but I too like my photos straight from the cam.

Ladybug (Lisa Ruokis) added a critique 3 months ago:

What a stunning capture ~ a very unique perspective. The reflection totally makes it for me. :)

sambhara (Michael Bogdan) added a critique 2 months ago:

I agree with soreks that you should photoshop out the leash. I don't however feel cropping is necessary as I like the lost dog in a crazy world feel it lends to....

This was tricky because the clouds are moving VERY fast!! I took a three exposure bracket as fast as the camera would record them. I tied this in Photomatix as HDR but didn't like the results. This is a manual blending of the 3 images in PS using layer masks and different transfer modes. What do you guys think??

mikeock (Mike Adams) added a critique 2 months ago:

Does not look to bad.
You can tell that there was motion on this...
Ever thought of shooting it in raw, then adjusting the exposure out on the post processing side?
That way you could get 2-5 frames of the same subject matter to do an HDR.

I really like the red/orange here!

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 2 months ago:

Yeah, Mike, always shoot in raw. The other one from the same sunset was done the way you suggest:

www.vazaar.com/critiques/id:31711/

Tried this one both ways, seemed here to have a better result with true HDR, but on the other one the 3 converts from 1 raw seemed to give a better result. Lots more detail in the clouds that way.

mikeock (Mike Adams) added a critique 2 months ago:

its a tough call either way...
I like them both!

il y a de l'idée dans cette photo, mais je ne comprends pas ce que tu nous montre, je sais pas ou placer mon regard. cette bordure me gène, car elle n'est pas complète, ou pas assez significative
