Nice idea. I like the structure of the glove and the shades on the glove. Only it's to bad I am distracted by the thought: what is that shiny metal object with the screw?!
If you're planning to make more pic's of this object, maybe you could lay down the glove on a smooth and shiny peace of metal without any other objects. A combination of the glove just alone with the brush is also logic becouse they are used together.

This image is bizarre enough to hold a fair amount of interest/impact. The most distracting part for me is the dark counter showing at the top. I get the feeling that a finger is missing...

I agree with the above comments. Although all the elements are there for a strong image, perhaps some simplification of the composition could be explored. I love the thinking behind this and find it most inspiring to start wandering around my house with camera in hand some more. Thanks for sharing.

there is great detail here, it just lacks a focus

Thank you...this is actually two yellow walls with a hallway between, it's just that by taking advantage of the angle it actually gives it a rounded feel. The various shades of yellow came simply from the lighting above.

I keep coming back to this image to leave a comment, so I guess it does do something to me :). Very abstract. I Would have loved to see it a bit more off center though.

yellow abstract interesting i love it (perhaps just a little bit too centered)

pfeel (Phil Verges) added a critique 9 months ago:

Very intriguing, you have a great eye!
I'm not sure whether I think it's too centered or not, the black line makes all the difference (as Nick says).
If you can go back to this interior, you could shoot it again and experiment with different compositions, maybe even a vertical format?
Also, it might be interesting to catch the silhouette of a person in the distance down the hallway - lots of potential for more great stuff!

colors are fabulous! What is that backround? Very striking photo!

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 4 months ago:

@Sarah: This is a total Photoshop treatment, this started out looking pretty much like this one from the same shoot:

www.vazaar.com/user:Beamer/photos/id:29618/

The background is made from combining a shot of tree bark and a shot of an abstract watercolor painting using various Photoshop transfer modes. Thanks for the comments!!

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 4 months ago:

Clyde,

Love the texture and color of the bark - great contrast with the yellow of the flower. Yeah for Photoshop - it really allows us to do so much in a painterly vein. Nice work and instant favorite for me. Lovely composition.

Best,
Jon

nice postpro combination

I like this. Very nice ps effect. The only thing I would suggest is maybe a bit more contrast in the center of the flower to punch it up a little.

This is a difficult choice... I like both, but I think the coloured version has more impact. You know, the yellow tones really stand out against the blackground.

The B&W version is very good too, but I feel a slight lack of luminosity or contrast, compared to the coloured version, I mean.

koo88 said 4 months ago:

I really like the lighting of the 3 flowers against the black background.

boyd said 4 months ago:

Beamer, for what it is worth, I prefer the B&W version. Although they are both strong images, I am not so sure that the inclusion of the yellow colour is of greater impact that the overall shapes and tonal range that is achieved by abstracting the shot to b&w.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 4 months ago:

I agree Boyd, thanks for the comments.

Wow, excellent exposure. Yellow and red are so difficult to capture without an over exposure.
The flower perfectly stands out the black background, and the details are crisp. Beautiful.

koo88 said 5 months ago:

exceptionally beautiful. Love the deep yellow color of the flower.
