What the heck.
Vazaar is closed, but we can still talk pictures, aye??

:P

mooch added a critique 1 year ago:

lol, those circles, yeah they're bokeh. perhaps you should point Beamer this way.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

mooch, is there no bokeh on the left 1/3 of this image below the wire??? Try to free up that restricted mind of yours and enjoy the simpler bokehs of the world...

You know some of us are just simple mountain folk and don't necessarily require the same degree of complexity in things that more sophisticated folks do...

Ana, this is a lovely image and has a very pleasing bokeh, good work!! I love the strand of spider web just barely showing in the upper center.

pass the salt, please.

I prefer pepper, thank you!!

all right. keep it over on that side of the table, though.
Dessert?

Nice picture - I especially like the red glow from the rough wood, though I don't get this topic. There already is a 'Shallow DOF'-topic. Can anyone explain the difference (sorry Ana, I ask the question in your post but I thought you wouldn't mind becouse there already is a lot of chatting above ;) .

I later saw there is a discussion about the meaning of the term bokeh, I think it's better not to interact with that... my theoretical knowledge is little and I'll just read what there's already been said.

Ana (Ana Cortez) said 1 year ago:

I don't have any idea. I thought it was focusing on an object with a shallow DOF, therefor the background is out of focus....

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

Hey, ladies, didn't you know I was just a trouble maker!! Bokeh is just a term to describe the "fuzzy" out-of-focus areas, usually in the background of a photograph. The whole discussion with mooch got a little over blown. He was trying to say that bokeh was ONLY present if there were circles (as in your image Ana) created when the lens rendered points of light or other high contrast details as shapes.

Truth is that all images with a DoF that leaves an area of the image out-of-focus have bokeh. The circles or hexagons created from a high contrast background are the characteristics that are usually referred to when judging the "quality" of the bokeh. Different shapes with different degrees of sharpness/softness are rendered depending on the shape of the blades of the aperture.

If you look at this page:

www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/662530/2

you will see that there are as many types of "fuzzy" areas, or bokeh are there are backgrounds behind the subjects.

well, the circles in that back of my shot are bits of light on an icy pond.

I didn't invite them
They just showed up.
Seriously.
