Thanks jKay, though its almost full frame no crop. What I think, if one keeps empty space for it to breathe it would be too much of white in an almost wite photo!

Guido and Mike, thanks for your comments. I added a new one with some selective saturation:

About the eyes, I like right one covered, she looks a bit dark and mysterieus this way. I like this pic in general becouse it's just the way my little sister is. Or, like wrote in the description of this topic: "really bring out the unique character of the subject".

I have stayed away from this discussion, not sure why, but here goes:
Having met your sister, how be it briefly, I find this to be a very nice portrait of her. She has that same look on her face that I remember. I am not particularly bothered by the guy in the red shirt or her hair over her eye. If anything I would take this version and just do a graduated lowering of the saturation and value towards the upper left.
The other version is not pleasing to me. The selective saturation is, imo, not the answer. And your other treatment did something weird to her cheeks??
Hope this makes sense and helps, anyway, cheers!! And say hi to you sis and mom for me!!

I agree with the eye issue. Its patially covered and at first glance looks like the subject is winking.

no feeling in her face!

Thank you all for your comments. For this one, I didn't ask the model for sitting nice and still and smile, but I waited for the right moment: she was reading a restaurant's menu and I waited for the moment she would rise her head. It worked really well and exept for that red shirt and lights on the left I'm proud on the result.
@ kombizz: kind a funny you say about no feeling... I've said before this picture shows my sister's real caracter, and she hardly shows her feelings at any time, like I said: she is a mystery. However, imo she actually does show some expression only you can interpret it into many ways.
@ Apurva: I don't know what you mean, do you agree it's a shame her right eye is covered, or do you think it adds something special?

This is some excellent B/W processing!

A very good picture, excellent sharpness and contrast, great BW processing. IMHO the foreground is a little weak in this picture.

Very spiritual image. Love the soaring bird. I see 2 light sources though. That disturbs me a bit. Is this a composite of 2 images?
ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) said 2 days ago:
Dear Smooch, thank you very much. No its not a composite. Just one single straight photo with some curves and saturation tweaked.

wow very very majestic and inspirational
beautiful composition!!

For me, it has the wow-factor. The sun shining at diffrent please trough a wall of clouds, that's a really nice capture. The whole envirement must have been very inspirational.

its difficult for me to critique this image as i am still trying to work out what it is! I was once told that there are two types of people to please when presenting an image. the first group loves an image that keeps them guessing and the second is the type that likes to know what they are looking at! I come into the second group. however on saying that, I love the lighting and love the colours.
ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) said 3 days ago:
Thanks! Its an ash tray shot from above with sunlight from the side and fill-in-flash.
sfkp (Tamara) added a critique 1 day ago:
jKay does has a good point, about those two sorts of people. Before I read your own comment, I guessed it was an ash tray... and I was right :) That makes me somebody of jKay's second group.
Anyway, my compliments about how you controlled the light, looks it wasn't an easy job.

I think that the colours work very well in this shot. The inclusion of the tractor driver adds interest and helps to give scale to the other items in frame. Nicely composed, mooch.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 month ago:
Nice shot, nicely seen and well captured. I would have gone looser and given the tractor more "noseroom." This would also tend to exaggerate the scale of the scene a little.
ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) added a critique 1 month ago:
The texture provided by the ploughed field looks great. The machine has come out well with its huge tyres showing tread marks, the yellow hub. The working man adds character and purpose to the image. Great job!
Smooch added a critique 2 days ago:
This is a really nice image. It has a nice photo-journalist quality. It's both documentary and tells a story. I agree the tractor needs a bit more "nose room". I'm just wondering if a lower angle might show the scale and depth of the field better. Nicely captured though.
a very abstract image. although it has impact, i would have a little more space around the subject - for it to 'breath'. very creative photo.
