Nice job with the exposure on this one - looks like it might have been a challening shot! The colors are good, but I would love to see this as a black and white.
Cheers,
Jon

Thanks for the suggestion, I will have to give it a try.

Exposure is amazing. I agree with Beamer about the Mel Gibson. I have been trying to get this effect myself. Nice job.

No HDR here... I've played with HDR, but I've not had any luck with it, yet. I'll check to see if I have a shot with a higher camera angle, and post it if I do.

great shot, i just might like to see it in black and white with a high contrast level, i think that would make the graffiti and the grasses really pop and make a cool atmosphere
LadyWings (Kara Brothers) said 1 year ago:
I actually did shoot this in black and white as well, but liked the color better. I'll put up another black and white bridge for you though.

i agree with the first comment
i don't think fog is the main subject.
strong atmosphere

nice looks a bit like a paintig, i like it
mikeock (Mike Adams) added a critique 1 year ago:
I really like the atmosphere of this shot.
Great painting like effect!
Wonderful colors.
I agree that maybe a crop of the bridge would help a bit as this would bring the fog in as the main focal point.
I think that the photo does fit into this topic as is, it just does not jump out at you!
paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 1 year ago:
i like the reflections on the fenze
aperture (Suvir Venkataraman) added a critique 1 year ago:
I really like the idea. But I agree with the first comment, I think the fog lends atmosphere and is not the subject. Also I'm a little unsure of the tones in the sky, they don't appear to fit well.

While I think the light all around the room is very nice, the light coming from the window is harsh and dominating compared to the rest of the image and detracts from the overall composition. I'd crop the top and right to solve this problem, and I think you'll end up with a better composition by eliminating some of the height that's currently not contributing much.
coolpixeler (Michel Maquet) added a critique 1 year ago:
Brillant capture. the eye has many reasons too walk in the picture. The sources of light doesn't interfere, very good job.
Although the chair is well defined by its steel frame, i think that a little more light on the back of the chair could be added.

like the athmosphere of the picture and the green stripe of wall aroung the door. almost feel like being there
florence (flo g florence) added a critique 1 year ago:
very nice but I think I prefere it in square, top of this photo can be elliminated. However, very nice colours and atmosphere
LadyWings (Kara Brothers) said 1 year ago:
If I crop out the top, I'll lose everything I was trying to capture. I wanted the size of the room to show, along with the natural light.

The perspective on this is very cool. For a minute, I thought it was a draw bridge, but the position of the cars brought it to my attention.

Good picture, but perhaps to much blue.

I like the blue, it adds to the surreal feeling.

Brilliant. But maybe a little too much so. I'd love to see less of this 'glow' and maybe straighten the waterline, but the trees might just be throwing me off. Otherwise an awesome pic.
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 1 year ago:
I could also do without the glow. Otherwise it's a great photo.
MMeye (Martine) added a critique 1 year ago:
Ouch.. I agree with other, the white zone is too harsh. However I like the composition, I guess this image could be very good with another treatment.
chefron (Ron Ernst) added a critique 1 year ago:
I like your image as well as your treatment. It sets a great mood. Looks like the swamps of SE Georgia

I'd like to see more of the background, instead of darkness.
But I like this a lot.It is a fine nature photo.
I am partial to the squirrels anyway, and I feed them every day.So cool to see him drinking out of a stream like that.
mjmilloy (M-J Milloy) added a critique 1 year ago:
Huh. Great capture - I've never seen a squirrel drinking from moving water before. I don't like, tho, how the highlights are blown on the rocks on the left and the shadows are all plugged up behind the little beast. Maybe flash next time to level out the lighting? What were you shooting with?
LadyWings (Kara Brothers) said 1 year ago:
I was shooting through glass, so the flash wasn't really an option. For this shot, I was using my Sony H-2. Thanks for your critique :)
creative666 (Craig Wilson) added a critique 1 year ago:
Cute little fella, not a bad effort for through glass!
Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 1 year ago:
Unlike mysight, I think, accounting for the conditions you describe, this could be a little better if the background disappeared more, by getting rid of the slightly distracting sparkling areas just behind and above his tail along the top third of the frame.
Looking at the exposure tells me that if you had tried to expose for the background the foreground and the squirrel would be very blown out. The rocks are already a little blown.
I suppose you could have tried blending two exposures to get the detail but that isn't likely to work very well with a squirrel as the subject, unless you took a second without him in the frame at all and then painstakingly blending them in Photoshop. (I am too impatient to do stuff like that as a rule.)
In this case I think it would be easier to burn the background away. I might even burn the rocks in the foreground a bit to balance them with the exposure on the squirrel. They are a little blown out.
I think this is a sweet photo of the squirrel.
Love the light, great job!! Looks like some torture chamber, maybe that scene in Lethal Weapon with Mel Gibson hanging by his hands... I do think you could crop off the bottom just above the block holding up the pole. That bright area in the lower left draws the eye a bit.
