@ Pradeep, thanks for the info, I will check
@Lange - I agree with you, I thought about cropping out some of the bottom before I posted but I liked the how the guy was leaning on the rail and I wanted it to be seen..I only wish that huge box wasn't there..lol...thank you for your comment!!

I think if you crop the bottom you will still have the impression of the gentleman leaning on the rail.
I didn't notice the noise as much. I think it may have helped reflect the 'beaming' of the sun and it's tendency to be harsh.
I love the rays/color of the sun. Very warm radiant feeling. Excellent capture. I really think the silhoette of the people make this photo very interesting. Good work!

I enjoy this shot, Noah. Pleasant to look at and well composed. I would continue to work on this if possible and let us see it again. It has great potential, in my opinion.
Cheers,
Jon

Truly beautiful! I loke the layering effect due to the angle of the lighting. The red is attractive but not blatant.

Great light - this thing glows! Love the spacing of the composition. Nice work - as usual. Best, Jon

it's a good picture, beautiful light but i don't know why this one doesn't "touch" me perhaps a little bit to much details but it's just my opinion

Beautiful and striking colors! I think this fits the topic wonderfully! I would enjoy hearing more about this image from the photographer.

Wow! I also really love the colors here. The branches are very intriguing also.

Thank you both for the comments. This was taken in the Australian outback, I was looking up at the sky under a desert tree/shrub. I played with the channel mixer to get the colour. original post at:

I very much enjoy this image. I am wondering, however, why you felt B&W was the best choice... it seems to me, that color would make a better image in this particular shot. This is not to say butterflies cannot be photographed in B&W, but because the background here is of a similar darkness as the wings and body of the insect, the differentiation is lower than it would be on a lighter background. I do very much like your choice of DOF and framing of the image.

Nice shot, but not as strong as it might be, I'm afraid. This loses punch as a black and white - composition is good - a little tilted - and the bokeh is interesting. - Best, Jon

Beautiful catch. Nice composition, nice black and white. I do wonder if this wouldn't have been stronger in colour?
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 10 months ago:
Consensus is color please!! Lange is right, the background is the culprit for this not working so well in B&W. If you really want to try to work up a B&W version you would need to do some PS trickery to first try to separate the butterfly from the background more in color. One good trick for this is to add a gradient layer adjustment on top and then underneath add a hue/saturation adjustment layer and play around with the different separate colors adjusting hue first, then saturation to see which ones will pull out the butterfly. You have to use adjustment layers, otherwise you can't see your color changes "thru" the gradient layer.

I completely agree with Beamer and Lange.. Because butterflies are well known with their beautiful colors. Except for the color thing, the shot is really good with Depth of Field, Frame and the angle. You must try what Beamer said :)
Good luck
I enjoy this image, but for me the lower 1/3 is very, very dark and does not add positively to the image. I could see cropping it so that the darkness is less prominent. But, I am not always in agreement with others, so perhaps it is good.
