Lots of trial and error! Timer, tripod and sitting on a stool!
Thank you!

Beautiful. Would be great for Shallow DOF also :)
JBridges (Jim Bridges) said 4 months ago:
Great detail... and a really interesting idea to frame it so you can't see the pupil at all.
Ana (Ana Cortez) said 4 months ago:
Thank you!
Was a tough one to get right!

Nice! I like unaranged real life compositions. Why don't you add it to 'selective saturation', too?
I've got one real comment: it's a bit pity the giant car disturbes the background. The smaller black car isn't annoying me.
Lemmingstone (Peter) said 5 months ago:
Thanks Tamara :)
I agree about the cars. Bummer.

Very nice motion blur.
Great shot with wonderful details for long exposure.

this looks great and i love the movement/colors but it makes me uneasy :/
creative666 (Craig Wilson) added a critique 1 year ago:
Love the blur, doesnt seem to be your normal motion blur if that makes sense!
narnold (Noah Arnold) added a critique 8 months ago:
wow...all those colors are crazy! Very cool picture!

I agree with Claude that the bottom left should be cropped a little as my eye tends to be drawn back to that area.
The picture itself though is wonderful in that the minimalist effect is just working very well.
Good job Alex!
zonderling (shelby koning) added a critique 1 year ago:
i rather like the raw earthy texture of the "bare" area, it seems that the texture and the sky both have a gradient effect with the tree landing somewhere in between, perhaps stepping back from the shot to include a bit more of that would give a continuation of that theme and work with the angular nature of the grass lines as well, I can see why you would hesitate to crop it completely out, but it might make for a more accessible shot.
andygibb (Andy Gibb) added a critique 1 year ago:
stunning in its simplicity, the tones really give the feeling of the coldness

Beautiful image - very stark!

I like this one - stark and moody and very compelling. Well done!

Yes, I also like the way the yellow line and gutter take you into the shot - very effective perspective and use of angle. I like the laughing and joking, but obviously the lady on the left either doesn't get it is isn't impressed. Cool touch to capture the bloke in the middle with the camera - almost feels like a very congenial camera club outing :-) ...

nice candid shot
where is it
TheOldMan (Mel Buckpitt) said 9 months ago:
It was taken in a part of Seoul called Insa-dong. Thanks all for the comments

Agree with all the positive comments above. I also like the light here with no shadows etc, it looks like the walkers have justs been dropped in from another scene. Composition works well with the strong diagonal almost dividing the two "worlds".
JeBeKe (Jan Verbeke) added a critique 9 months ago:
I full agree with boyd. The strong diagonal was also what struck me.

CraigMartin (Craig Martin) said 9 months ago:
Thanks for the comments everyone! I found them very helpful. I wish I could say that the strong diagonal separating them was planned, but it was entirely fortuitous!

This is Loki, a Pomeranian who lives on 73rd Street. He's named after the Norse god of Treachery.

Nice pic. I love Poms. Used to have two of them, but they passed on. Treachery is a pretty ferocious concept for a Pom, lol.

The shoes make the photo here.
Ana (Ana Cortez) said 9 months ago:
I totally dig those shoes.
It's like "catch their attention with the dog....hypnotize them with the shoes....then run off with their wallet! Mwhahahahaha"

This is a nice shot. The comp. is good, but the subject's face and hat appear to be slightly overexposed. Good use of grayscale.
Best, Jon
erinelizzybeth (Erin) added a critique 9 months ago:
I agree with jvgphoto...the pic is great but the subjects face is just too bright
Lemmingstone (Peter) said 9 months ago:
Thanks people. I agree with you both. The face and hat are too bright. I should have tried to correct this in post processing. The rider caught a little sun in the face just at the wrong time. Thanks again.
photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) added a critique 9 months ago:
it's a good comp (i agree for the faceĆ but it's still a good photo

Oh, the old Glitter Gulch. I've always wanted to go inside that place and check it out. Next time I go to Vegas I just might.
Great shot and good choice to go B&W. :)
cloud_star123 (me bob) said 10 months ago:
i little inappropriate, kids can also use this website!
kufever (Yvette) said 10 months ago:
First of all it's a sign - posted in a very public place.
Second, there is nothing inappropriate about this photo - the figure of the sign is fully clothed.
And third, parents should know what their kids are looking at on the internet and they can be the judge.

VT - That is the exact look I was going for - "crossed-lomoholganized-artsy-fartsy-something". Couldn't have described it better :)

looks like an old photograph with a lot of history ... normally i don't like heavy editing or added layers, but this is an interesting shot! nice work!
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 1 year ago:
I don't normally go for this sort of thing, but this really works for me. I think it comes down to a couple things:
1. The photo has more interesting details than before.
2. As Lindy said, it fits the subject (LA).
cloud_star123 (me bob) added a critique 10 months ago:

and amazing
Wow, how did you get it so sharp in exactly the right place?? Good colours too.
