Chris (Christopher Scott) added a critique 1 year ago:

I'm not a big fan of having photographs fliped,... IMHO I think that it would have worked better if you had both, the original, and the reflection on one image!

BodhiBlink (Tom Bodhi Reeves) added a critique 1 year ago:

I think maybe an idea that would solve both my thought about the bottom of the image and also Chris's distaste for fliped photos... Crop it just a bit from the bottom to lessen the feeling of the photo being upside down, and lighten it off so it fades to white...I'd add a dark gradient overlay on the top left to add to the effect and I bet it'd look ridiculously cool. Maybe some extra saturation in those colors on the cranes too...play around. Nice photo!

TheAntipodes (Menno van Zaanen) added a critique 11 months ago:

I like the liquid feel of this photo. The lines of the crane at the top of the photo are just wonderful.

RachelValley (Rachel Valley) added a critique 10 months ago:

Really great reflection....could almost be abstract.

Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) added a critique 10 days ago:

Love how it looks like a painting in the thumbnail preview.

I agree with Eye See, It really caught my eye too because of the dramatic content. Really makes you keep looking. I love it.

RachelValley (Rachel Valley) added a critique 10 months ago:

I too like the symbolism in this...the trees rising...the gaze pulled downward...profound silhouette.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

I don't know how I missed this earlier - beautiful work - you should be proud!

Best,
Jon

i don't know exactly what i see but i know i like it

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 9 months ago:

This is very nice. I wish the streaks weren't so jagged. I wonder if there is any way to smooth them out without ruining the image??? The sky and the foreground water are great, wouldn't want to disturb them.

Nice shot, and good idea ;)

Yep, and there is nothing interesting in there :)

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 10 months ago:

Very nicely captured. I know how difficult it is for the camera to properly expose this kind of shot. These usually look great to our eyes, but lose the magic on film. You have held on to the magic! Great work!

antonio (antonio) added a critique 10 months ago:

nice tones, and i like the dramatic sense of the picture. this kind of pictures give you a feeling when you look at them thats why i like it!!

crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 9 months ago:

I get a very eerie feel from this image. A bit disturbing even (which I guess was the intention of the photographer). Well done on nailing the exposure too.

Hanssie (Hans Stellingwerf) added a critique 7 months ago:

A beautiful and "never-ending" road.....

Interesting shot - I agree with DREED - looks fake - effectively interesting!

Kevin (Kevin Gulstene) added a critique 10 months ago:

This is a really good example of the toy-world-through-tilt technique. Very nice!

crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 9 months ago:

Tilt shift technique very well executed. Did you use a lensbaby (lensbabies.com/) for this shot or was the effect added using post processing?

JimiThing (Jim Machajewski) said 9 months ago:

Thanks for the kind words. No this is not a lensbaby, it is pure photoshop trickery.

Pradeep (Pradeep P) added a critique 7 months ago:

Beautiful effect. Love the treatment. The tower in the center is beautiful.

boyd,

Thanks for the comment.
Great to hear how to improve this type of image.
Glad for the feedback.
Also glad that you like what you saw in this...
You saw what i saw!

RachelValley (Rachel Valley) added a critique 10 months ago:

I would say that this is more the snapshot of a moment. The differences being the obvious use of flash, the frame in the top right is drawing my eye away, and the stuff on the table and in her lap are diverting attention away from the intended subject...focusing in on the subject allows the viewer to be drawn in to the soul of the person.

mikeock (Mike Adams) said 10 months ago:

RachelValley,

Thanks for your comment.
Greatly apprecieated!

boyd added a critique 11 months ago:

I love the streaming light through the trees in the bottom left of frame. Also, the definite line of clouds at the top seem to balance the dark base, and this dark area does give up reasonable detail in my view. I also agree about the b&w, but I tend to bias it over colour.

pageextent (matt mangan) said 11 months ago:

Thx for you comments, I'll try converting this to b&w and see what happens. What I loved about this shot is the light golden tones in the middle, but for the web version they don't really stand out. I think I'll try a couple different versions and see what happens.
thx again

jasonkravitz (Jason Kravitz) added a critique 11 months ago:

maybe you can desaturate the sky but leave the golden tones in the center - could be an interesting effect.

RachelValley (Rachel Valley) added a critique 10 months ago:

Really great fog capture...too bad there was not some more fog creeping in on the foreground to give a muddled perspective...but that of course is beyond your control..

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Potentially a great shot. Needs some cropping on top and bottom, in my opinion. Would make a great black and white with some added contrast.

Best,
Jon

very nice work. Great technicals. I would have stopped down to about f/45 with a medium format. But this is your picture not mine.

RachelValley (Rachel Valley) added a critique 10 months ago:

There is not much I don't like about this image...the tones are intriguing and the way the flowers seem to be floating lend to an awesome capture!
