j'adore ce genre de portrait qui montre sans dévoiler. Belle utilisation de la lumière
crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 9 months ago:
Very nice and mysterious. I'm really looking for something to remark on this photo and I'd have to say it's the eye not being 100% in the light. I'm nitpicking though, I think you nailed it.
KerriDoodle (Kerri) added a critique 9 months ago:
Fantastic color and lighting, love the crop. Is it all makeup she's wearing, or have you used a special processing technique? Parts of her face almost look plastic...but in a good, shiny way! : )

Wonderful! Would not change a thing!

I wanted very little shadow on the face to make it jump apart from the texture of the rock. I fired an SB600 into a reflective umbrella high camera right by way of strobing.

Love it! his eyes are great and the stone background is so rich.I Love this blk & wht!

I think this is a great pic. The kid is so cute! And I love that you can see the palm trees in the reflection.

Delicious - very sensual photo - don't know if that was your intent - maybe I'm just hungry!

Sensual is great! I have always had a romance with food!

I love the simplicity and composition of this. The color is fantastic also!

@jon you are not a stick in the mud...you know what you like....so no apologies...this is what a critique is about...This is one of those shots where if I had moved the camera even a hair I would have gotten power lines etc...I took a chance.
@Sara Thanks for your kind words...

I keep seeing this photo and it catches my eye. I always looks like the clouds are moving. I don't know why, but the composition is very unique. Well done.

It works for me. I don't think there's too much empty space really. Very nicely done.

Fantome added a critique 10 months ago:
I like the tones and the small waves. However, I'm not convinced by the composition. The two white snow sections, top and bottom, are useful to make a frame and show the winter, but they are too important.
I would have prefered a "landscape" orientation. It would have removed a part of the top, that actually does not contribute to the picture. It would have given room on the left, to amplify the movement.
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 10 months ago:
I really like this and think the framing works if you crop a little more of the top. Great possibilities with this one, I think. Love the water and the designs which the ducks have created in it. -jon
RachelValley (Rachel Valley) said 10 months ago:
Thanks to you both for the input!
ple (ferry kana) added a critique 9 months ago:
in my eyes it looks like a pattern of lines. The contrast in water is beautiful but not in the snow area. Maybe you can crop it on top and bottom an leave the eyes concentrated on ducks.
photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) added a critique 9 months ago:
i agree with the crop idea, i think it would be better with little less top (but that's just my opinion)
otherwise it's a good shot

The ambient so decadent gives a rupture feeling with the figure of the small child. I really like that sensation, it makes you wonder what has happened behind that door.
I like it very much. Congratulations!

KerriDoodle (Kerri) added a critique 9 months ago:
I would like to see the child's face a tiny bit more in focus, or not so soft. Her look and body language, in combination with the tones and background images, give me a creepy feeling. I wonder if this was your intention?

@lightholder...The lomo does give a green cast so you are not imagining it. The fact that you still wanted a cup of cocoa is good enough for me though! :D
@antonio....you are right there was something missing...Irish cream! :)
Thanks to you both for the feedback!
DREED added a critique 10 months ago:
I like the shot....I like the drip down the cup.I also like The dark in the background and the lightness in the front....only thing i would say i would like to see some of the bottom cropped out.
Jessa added a critique 10 months ago:
It's funny.. from this shot I don't want a cup of cocoa. It's kind of dirty and slimy looking IMO.
the photo itself...I do like the vignetting and the shallow DOF. The shiney white spots on the table are a little distracting, also the glare on the cup by the drip is a bit distracting. So this is what a lomo does? it looks like a fun thing to play with.
RachelValley (Rachel Valley) said 10 months ago:
@jessa Hot chocolate gone to the dark side! I see the blow outs and I think you are right....
Thanks again to all for your comments..
crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 9 months ago:
I like the split tone and the depth of field, but I would have loved to see a somewhat less tight crop (especially tot he right of the image).

The lack of texture on the cheek is a bit disturbing for me. IMHO, either you should have left a few, or have taken off all textures everywhere on the skin.
pete (Pete) added a critique 10 months ago:
what a range of textures! although it does look like you have smoothed the cheek, to an excessive amount?
i would have liked the eye to be a bit more open, as the blue colour is great, and more of it would be even better!!
cool ideas
ReinerMueller (Reiner Müller) added a critique 10 months ago:
I agree with MMeye and pete that the lack of texture on the cheek is a bit disturbing. But nevertheless this is a very impressive image.
RachelValley (Rachel Valley) said 10 months ago:
This is titled "warning". My vision for this piece is that at first you see perfection, yet when you look deeper into the person the detail abruptly appears. Highlights plunge into fire then dark all with intent of alerting the viewer to make a judgement upon approach.
Thanks for all your comments..truly appreciated.
crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 9 months ago:
Very nice image, but I agree with the others about the lack of texture on the cheek. Her eye, although only slightly visible is stunning.

Great inclusion of the human to see the sense of scale.
Wonderful framing and i like the clouds that add a depth to the shot that would not have been without those!

@Mike much appreciated...at times I go through the "crop or not to crop" conundrum..and this felt right.
