I love the lord-of-the-rings type trees, this is fantastic! The vignetting draws your attention to the subject and the raw grain adds a certain realism.

Hi Jean, we meet again ;-) This photo is beautiful, the only thing is I would like to see more of this old man, parts of his lower hands perhaps. He seems to have a story ready to tell.

anemix (John Anderson) added a critique 11 months ago:

Using paper to my screen cropping, I find the picture more focused on the model if I eliminate the blue sky and orange rooftop. The blue sky is a distraction away from the model and the tilted roof line makes me dwell on elements other than the model. Great DOF. eliminating the blue gives you a 'stairway' up while he is pondering down.

bluechameleon (Sharon Wish) added a critique 11 months ago:

There is a cinematic quality to this shot that I really like. The DOF is perfect here to my eye, although in order to keep the pattern and repetition of the building so that it is not a distraction to your subject, I would remove the blue sky as I find it is a bit of a distraction.

chromadreams (David) added a critique 10 months ago:

I agree with the above mentioned, but also I want to add one thing, maybe it had been better if you have choose a sqare format than this one.

erinelizzybeth (Erin) added a critique 9 months ago:

I think it's great.....good DOF! But i would have to agree about the blue sky.

"Humanity amongst steel", or, "where's that noise coming from". very strong contrast.

I really like this repeating pattern of the reflection, how it varies in tone across the frame. A great balance here with the piping and brick.

Yep - it's very good, - looks like a magazine photography.. - i like the overall composition and color harmony (eye / back-ground) - very good work i think !!

anemix (John Anderson) added a critique 11 months ago:

One thing I'd do would be to crop the image along the line of the brick pillar edge to de-center the model and also make the lines lead to the model instead of away from him into the shadows. It also makes the right side lighting viable.

lasiate added a critique 11 months ago:

j'aurais bien vu un cadrage carré. on se perd un peu dans cette image et l'arrière_plan ,'a pas vraiment d'intéret ni dans les formes ni dans les couleurs

jorgelopez (Jorge López) added a critique 11 months ago:

Great job!. I love the blur around him and the final effect.

bluechameleon (Sharon Wish) added a critique 11 months ago:

This is a wonderful portrait. I actually like that it's not a sharp image as it adds a certain mood with the ever-so-slight soft focus. The blurred background and bokeh brings you right into his eyes. I like that.
