Agree bout the framing. I sorta wish the DoF was just a little deeper, the falloff of focus being a little more gradual along the neck...

This image looks like a screenshot from a nex-gen computer game. Looks like state of the art three dimensional graphics, that's fantastic! Hard to believe it's a toy. You've dome some good job!

I agree with Tony. I'd like the crop only if there was an archnemesis or barbie doll toy in the background to give it some story. Otherwise I think it is good.

i love the perspective that you've got on this one. just find the structure outside a bit busy for the rest of the frame...it's a nice contrast maybe, but for me it detracts from the abstract quality of the stairs and the feet.

Great composition - reminiscent of days gone by. The ones make it a little foreboding almost like bad memories.

When I grow up I want to be able to make photos like this one.

Holy cr*p this is a great image. Could you share some technique with me - is this a straight image, or a composite (meaning HDR)? Is it tone-mapped? If it was originally digital, what B&W conversion process did you do?

@flatline: i usually convert all my monochromatic images (so this) with the new b&w-function of cs3, which is amazing! it's far better than anything i used before.

it's neither an hdr nor any tonemapping popped in here, what i did was several (in this case 7) different layers with curves and tonal range adjustments over some particular areas of the image like the sky, some parts of the ship, the landscape in background and so on. i'm quite happy with the result but i'm still learning...

one more time the vignetting, I would liked it more without it.
Now I'm going to see the retouched one.

I much prefer your original here over the retouched image. The darkness adds mood and the shading of the sky is wonderful. Nice work!

This one is better than the retouched I think. Although the sky is very pretty, it's not as prominent as the land features which are really great in silhouette. At any rate it's a very nice image.
