I like the humour here -- it looks like the boy's left hand is playing the 'strings' of the 'bridge instrument.' The 'arty' treatment of the clouds add to the overall effect. love it.

Thanks everybody for your comments. It's very interesting the discussion about vignetting, that I added during developing to obtain a somewhat dirty image (so and as I see the oil industry in general).
The sepia dominant already was in the original light, although I emphasized a little during processing.
(excuse my english)

This reminds me of ants making an anthill, only it wasn't ants and it wasn't an anthill. I like how the backdrop isn't completely plain. The clouds add very nice balance to the photo. This is perfect to the point it seems unreal. Amazing job.

Good job. It’s really frightening place. Where did you find it?.
danne (danne eriksson) said 1 year ago:
Thanks. Up state New York. Don't remember the name though. To scary to hang around so I left. ;-)
anke-art (Anke Arnold) said 1 year ago:
Oh that's freaky... exactly like I imagined the doomed house in the book "Black House" by Stephen King & Peter Straub.

The neighbour still complains over the high pitch scream that occurs each Sunday at 21.37. They have investigated the scene several times without finding a physical reason that could explain the scary sound of a suffering person. The scream is yet to be explained and many neighbours have chosen to move to Florida...

Can't wait to see the punchy version. It was my first thought as well. And maybe remove the green post? It's the only thing I find distracting it looks like it could be easily painted out... =) I love the electrical towers in the background... not sure why...
mikeock (Mike Adams) said 1 year ago:
lightholder,
I was wondering if it, the post, distracted from the composition.
IMHO it was not that bad but i will do an edit with it removed!
Depending on the weather, those electrical towers can add or negatively affect from the image that you are trying to compose.
danne (danne eriksson) added a critique 1 year ago:
mikeock: Hey! Its funny because I have been looking for a picture like this for some time now. I'm about to do a CD cover to a friend ("alternetiv" or ambient musik) and I have an idea that contains a monster truck like yours. What would you say if I borrowed your truck (or the other one with teeth)? If everything turns out good I would of cause name you as a cophotografer. There are no money involved so far but if there is I would be happy to share a part with you. Interested? mail me at dagensbild@gmail.com if you are interested. Then I can send you a skiss of my idea too.

:-). Nope, it's not a multilayer photoshop work. :-) Central station down town Stockholm city. Rush hour. The guy has been there several times. I think he is some kind of one person installation art. Haven't asked. Thinking of joining him next time though. :-) You are right Brandon. Pure Zen.

I like the tilt for dynamism but, like Bob I think there is too much sky and the dark area in the lower right corner is disturbing.
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 1 year ago:
I also agree with Bob about the sky. The "toy" treatment seems to make the sky look lower, sort of like a low ceiling (as opposed to being a background at a relatively infinite distance). It keeps drawing my up, trying to figure its relation to the rest of the picture. Perhaps it's a sort of unintended optical illusion.
If this is a spur of the moment shot, (the railing at the lower right suggests it might be) cropping out most of the sky is probably the easiest solution.
I would have preferred to see the whole reflection, not cropping the lower left corner, but that's probably just a question of personal taste and what you wanted to be the subject of the photo.
danne (danne eriksson) said 1 year ago:
Thank you all for your comments. I haven't figured out this picture my self in the sense that I do like it (especially the "toy" feeling) but there are to many disturbing things in it. I tried to eliminate them but without success. After trying out your suggestions I do agree about the sky and the other things. The sky is to big. The left hanging and the black shadow in the lower right have been difficult to take away because there isn't any more picture in the lower left. If I straighten the pic or try to take away the lower right, then the reflections of the bridge goes to. So, I guess a better original would be the best solution. ;-) I took the picture in Belgrade Serbia earlier this year.
Thanks again for helping out. I really appreciate your comments.
Cass (Cass Horton) added a critique 1 year ago:
This isnt working for me, and I'm not exactly sure why.
I really like the reflection and texture there, as well as the overall feel of parallel lines, but there's just this feeling of "shooting out the car window on the way home from work" i can't shake -- it could partly be the skew, or lack of contrast. There's a solid shot here, it just hasn't been brought out yet, IMHO.
danne (danne eriksson) said 1 year ago:
Cass: Thanks. This is the reason why I asked for critics because one part of me dismisses the photo as an "accident" more then a good picture. But I keep coming back to it so there is something that attracts me.
