Honestly, I cannot see anything to be critical about in this image. I have nothing but praise! Having the people in this shot to scale is great...it's much like the world of Dali. Truly an incredible shot!
stilfoto (Stefan Nielsen) added a critique 4 months ago:
An almost surrealistic picture...
To present it in B&W and to do a square crop were the perfect choices for this. In short: A great picture :-)

Different is good. The tones are amazing in that waterfall. I find this image extraordinary.

I've been out of town and came back to some great comments, many thanks to you all. Beamer, this is Upper Mesa Falls outside of Island Park, Idaho. Not sure where you live, but definitely check it out if you're ever in those parts. There is also the very stunning Lower Mesa Falls just down the road. Actually, the whole scenic byway they're located on is fantastic...let me know if you want a .kmz file for Google Earth. :-)
Again, thanks for the input everyone.

While you did a great job with the long exposure, I have to agree with grahambo.

@LadyWings, thanks for your feedback as well. It's good to get input from a variety of angles, as well as photographs.

Preciosa fotografia. El equilibrio de la gama tonal y los suaves contrastes, potencian las sensaciones de calma y paz que se deduce del ambiente. Enhorabuena. Saludos

Nice picture. It makes me wish the background on Vazaar was black instead to bring out the detail.

Good shot - great light - nice reflections. The composition as a whole, however, is just a little static. I wish the angle were different so that a more dynamic shot had been produced. This one has so much going for it - a little too centered maybe. Thanks for sharing, Thomas. Nice work - as always!
Best,
Jon

je trouve cette photo très belle les reflections dans l'eau sont vraiment très intéressantes, je me demande juste si elle n'aurait pas plus de "poids" en noir et blanc...
a part ca bon travail la compo est géniale

@photoaholic: that's a great tip actually. I'll see how it looks in black and white. Thanks for the comment!
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 9 months ago:
photoaholic is probably right about the B&W.
To me, the reflection isn't really a major part of the photo. It might do better under another category, like B&W.

grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 9 months ago:
Nice shot. I assumed they were lemons at first glance.
I would have like just a touch more DOF to give a critical sharpness to the subject, but it's just a small quibble.
Also, there are some distracting patterns at the top of the picture. This may be a characteristic of the lens you used. You may want to consider adding a little bit of blur in post production to the 2nd row of unfocused oranges and beyond. Just a little goes a long way and make sure the transition is very soft.
crahan (Thomas Bouve) said 9 months ago:
@grahambo: thanks for the great tip. That would help this image a lot, thank you!

Really great image. Would have been better to my eyes with a tad more depth of field but still a good effort. Nice one.
Hanssie (Hans Stellingwerf) added a critique 7 months ago:
Nice and juicy shot:-)) I only would like to see some more DOF, there are too many unsharp, but I like the idea !

This says sky, or water, or boats, but not minimalism.

"About "Minimalism"
Created by Paulforrester
Create an image where your subject is the strong point of the image, but only occupying a very small portion of the image space."
i think the boats are not so big in this shot...but thanks for the comment
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 9 months ago:
I think the shot would "feel" more minimal if it didn't have the cloud across the top, but it is still topical. I like the cloud coming in from the right though.
If I could suggest one change, it would be to increase the sharpness on the boats and smooth out the sky.
andresalegria added a critique 9 months ago:
i like the blue of the sky and the water. the color increases the compatibility with minimalism, but there might be too much going on to be really minimal.
LeStro added a critique 8 months ago:
Great composition, whether minimalist or not. Good job.

I really like this too.
On a technical note, I wish the top of the rail wasn't quite blown out, but it doesn't detract much because the photo isn't about the detail.
I also wonder how this would look in b&w.
Did (Did) added a critique 1 year ago:
I love the perspective and the colors too. This is a great picture.
I only regret the rail is not starting in the bottom right corner and I wonder why there is vignettting on the left but not on the right.

Wow... Nice shot and very good pp. It's dreamful, excellent !
Just a point : the horizon line is a bit tilting (0,90°). I surely don't want to bother you with this in such a good pic, but I suspect I have a 'level tool' (sorry I don't know the exact word) in my eyes and this is often the first default I see in a picture ;-)
