Thankx for featuring my picture

lbstone (Brandon Stone) added a critique 3 years ago:

This guy has some wonderful character. His wispy hair and the sparkling bokeh behind him give this image a magical feel to me.

Looks like there's some dust and scratches on the photo, but for some reason I actually like to see that kind of thing.

Good portrait! Maybe with a little more contrast...

good point.

SeekingFocus (Jason Langley) added a critique 3 years ago:

I love how the shadow is of a different shape than the person seen in the photo.

ArneG (Arne Gulstene) added a critique 3 years ago:

Yeah - I just noticed that difference in shadow shapes as well - great effect - I would not change a thing

agme (Dmitry Antipov) added a critique 3 years ago:

Nice 'genre'
Love the author's view and the antouraje

Very well seen and thought out, I think. Great light and an interesting subject.

shivahuja (shiv ahuja) added a critique 3 years ago:

harsh flash lighting, but great overall composition.since lighting was low, pumping up the iso to increase the sensitivity to light.

kadenajack (Jack) added a critique 3 years ago:

If you could move the object further from the background it would be easier to light it and isolate it. As it's currently shot, a slight curves adjustment might make it pop out a little better.

jcharles (Jeremy Charles) added a critique 3 years ago:

it's a little bit crooked, and lacks some tonal punch. curves and levels adjustments will help, as will touching up some of the specks.

TheAntipodes (Menno van Zaanen) added a critique 2 years ago:

The blue and the brownish background really work for me. I love the way the slighly darker parts in the background form a frame around the glass in the bottom part, balancing interesting features in top and bottom of the picture.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 2 years ago:

Nice shot, but a little work would turn this into a gem!

Best,
Jon

I like this photo I think it's well done.

jseligman (J Seligman) added a critique 3 years ago:

I think it would be a more interesting photo if it were cropped to remove the space on the right (back of his head)In other words, take him out of the center.

jcharles (Jeremy Charles) added a critique 3 years ago:

i agree with jseligman. and take some off the top to balance with his chin.

THISMUG (Jeremy Yontz) added a critique 3 years ago:

I like the DOF

TheAntipodes (Menno van Zaanen) added a critique 2 years ago:

It would probably be interesting to get him out of the centre, but I'm not sure if cutting the right hand side would work (because you'll be cutting from his back). Perhaps extending the left hand side will do the trick (which will still mean taking the picture again, unless you already cut that to start with).

George, your photo is certainly a reminder that instead of looking up all the time, we sometimes should look down.

you did and were rewarded with this wonderful photo that is dark and brooding with a sense of mystery and adventure.

Well done.

Nice atmosphere, great light!
Almost looks tilt-shifted / miniature ...

thoughtdujour (thought du jour) said 3 years ago:

how happy you must have been to get that red roof in the photo, to have the mist only in the back, and then to have the sunlight in the foreground!

Either you must be really lucky or you camped there till you got this great light!

Either way, congratulations!

eli (Elijah Woolery) said 3 years ago:

Wow, so crisp you can feel the frost, excellent capture! Almost feels like a model...

KidJim (Jean Marc Veliscek) said 2 years ago:

This image is just only sublime -

Neuner said 2 years ago:

I love the sharpness & feeling you captured. It's hard to relate the grade of slope in a photo without a vertical reference but you've pulled it off nicely. Everything about it makes it a favorite for me.

Hmmm...I don't know how this fits the theme.

kadenajack (Jack) added a critique 3 years ago:

Wow, you were trying to do a lot with that image. I think if you really want to evoke the mood and meaning of those lyrics you're going to have to start from scratch and pose some teens to really make it happen. The teens here would be great, but I imagine you probably grabbed this shot on the fly and hoped it fit with the song.

As a Florida resident, I think I've seen kids cruising the beach in a convertible on spring break that would have fit the song great. I'm not sure you can capture that same mood in the mall.

Alick (Alexander Kopylov) added a critique 3 years ago:

I have looked at your site. In my opinion you have much the best pictures.
Sorry for my english.

JMOORES (Jerry Moores) added a critique 3 years ago:

If look could kill - great capture!

Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 3 years ago:

If the girl on the far right were in sharp focus this would have greater impact perhaps. It would seem to really lend context and evoke a teen girls envy or angst. She looks really annoyed but that is kind of lost in this photo since nothing is sharp enough to be the focal point.

The girl on the far left also seems like she's annoyed but I'm left wanting to see who she is talking to...maybe her mom is there saying it's time to go, and she's protesting?

I wish I could tell more from this but its just got too much going on and nothing specific enough.

I don't see hope and despair I see teen girls, 2 that look to be annoyed, but too difficult to tell if it's with each other as they don't seem to be interacting with each other, but it's hard to discern.

notter71 (Tom Notter) said 3 years ago:

Nice photo.
The only thing that bothers me is the negative space behind the subject. It may have worked better with the negative space on the left. In this case, a tighter crop may do the trick.

kufever (Yvette) said 3 years ago:

Thanks for the comment notter. I'll think about a crop.

jcharles (Jeremy Charles) said 3 years ago:

i have to disagree, this crop is great. it creates a different mood, a loneliness, than a standard open neg space would not. sometimes you have to break the rules.
