Nice comp - and interesting use of space and line. I like the textures you have captured - good stuff, Boyd.
Best,
Jon

I like the contrast and density better in this one. It's a nice theme you have going here. I'd love to see more. Nice work!

I agree with Beamer. Beautiful piece of art.

Terrific work. The colors and form go so well together; and it has that Asian flair which I love so much. Simple but beautiful. If I were creating this image for print, I would lose the border and, of course, your watermark/name. Otherwise the image is perfect. Nice job!

Good work!

I agree with the others. Maybe if you would transcribe your name into Japanese characters (Katakana)? That way you would have both the effect of Asian text and your name in the picture.
You could www.takase.com/Library/Glossary.htm#KATAKANA for this.
Lovely picture.

Nice repetition here!

I too agree that the person adds to the shot, rather than taking away. It places the shot in the real world, and give it perspective. Otherwise, it could have been a model...

A real Escher capture in the real world !
Incredible !

¡¡¡Enhorabuena!!!!, he visto esta foto en la portada que Canon tiene para enviar sus noticias ("You connect").

Hey, I got this advertisement from Canon today. And they used your shot! I thought I had recently critiqued it here. Congrats!!

Very nice. After reading the comments and looking again, I agree that it would be stronger with the building in focus.

Hello Joan,
This is a really artistic rendering. I love the dreamy look to the photo. Just goes to show that a silhouette can be used to capture beauty. Nice work.

For me it is a good shot, but i miss something more striking in the picture, maybe a crop a bit more out of center or a disturbing object.
CEG added a critique 6 months ago:
I really like this shot. I think the contrast between the subject and background works well. Good job!
anke-art (Anke Arnold) said 4 months ago:
Thanks a lot for all your comments. It's interesting that your opinions vary so much.
This picture was taken at my parents' home, there's a window on the right side which couldn't be shaded. So it would have been impossible to get an even lighting of the background.
joka (Johannes Kapp) added a critique 4 months ago:
special and fine!

I wouldn't have noticed the variance in light until it was mentioned, and it makes sense. I love the simplicity of this image and that it makes me wonder about the rest of the room and what it may look like.

Love the color and pose of your subject - great expression! I wish there was just a little more separation between your subject and other elements in the background. Very nice work in my opinion.
Best to you,
Jon

I like her...she is an interesting character. I am curious...did she know you were taking her picture either before or after.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 5 months ago:
I agree with Jon, and i would have painted out the bright white bit near the left of frame. A square crop really might focus interest/impact better here, try it, not sure?
joka (Johannes Kapp) added a critique 4 months ago:
Fine pose!
JBridges (Jim Bridges) added a critique 3 months ago:
She is definitely an interesting subject and I absolutely LOVE the colour here. But I agree with Beamer about a slightly different crop (either just enough to take out the lighter patch on the right wall or, as he suggested, square might work). But it's a really captivating photo.
unusual, very interesting, i like this shot
