My "Soft Light" trick might help. Take this image, duplicate the layer, make the top layer "Soft Light" and play with the opacity. The thing I like about this blending mode is it generally "punches" the tonal range without blowing out the highlights....

My personal instinct is telling me that there's something wrong with the composition. It just seems strange to me and is confusing for my eyes to look at. However, you have some great tones here, good texture and nice contrast.
Great capture.

I find all the different shapes in different tones interesting. As mentioned above I think it needs a little more photoshop work to separate the tones a bit more.
I would suggest using a levels layer first. Try adjusting your mid-tones slider to the right a bit (darken). Also try using the unsharp mask at a 20pixel radius and adjust the ammount to what you like.
Compositionaly:
The trouble I see with this arrangement is that my eye is inevitably drawn of the image. The lines point so strongly to the bright spot at the edge that it just makes you wonder whats down a little lower.

I like this image -- placement of lighter elements, softer grey tones, the obvious filter to create further texture. A good soft abstract. Well done!

Wow. This photo is good and luke warm for me. When I first looked at it, i really liked it, when I loaded it, I didn't like it, now upon viewing it a bit longer, I like it again, but I think it lacks something I can't quite put my finger on. The idea of the photo is lovely, and opportunity with the shadows is fantastic, but the photo lacks a kind of 'punch'.
Unfortunately, because I can't quite identify how, I'm not sure what to suggest. Maybe boosting the contrast a bit? Or perhaps lowering the camera angle to exaggerate the lines drawn in the shadows by shifting perspective.
...but my final opinion on it is I do like it. Perhaps a more skilled photographer could suggest something more useful. =)
