A whole another look too the topic architecture: usually their are about details of a building or a panoramic view where you can see the building in all its greatness.
However the picture shows hardly any details, it's very recognizable. Well done! Only thing what's bothering me a bit (just a bit nitpicking) are the two poles left from the tree.

Afoklala (Jan Willem van Dormolen) added a critique 7 days ago:

Great how you placed the sun directly behind the main structure. The picture looks like a fractal - great effect.
I agree with Tamara that the two poles are in the way, but what could you do? Take a large axe along on your next photo shoot?

ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) added a critique 5 days ago:

In my view too much empty areas and silhoette makes this worse. Not a shot write home about!

I've been there, it's a special place indeed. To bad I wasn't in to photography that time :)

Maybe you could have been add something what showes the scale, like the other photo you took in central Turkey? Though I've been there, still I have troubles with deciding how big the terraces on you photo are.
I like the angle you used. It's show the stalactites well.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 2 months ago:

I too have trouble with the composition of this one. The subjects are wonderful, I just don't think your composition show them off very well. The drama and surprise of your other one is missing here. Maybe a higher angle to show the tops of the terraces, I assume they have hot water in them. This would show the context better and perhaps create a more dramatic composition.

j'aime bien ces couleurs dans le crème

What a place! It seems a bit overexposed though..or si it my screen ? :)

I actually like the fact that you can't tell how big this is - leaves something to the imagination.

Great shot like the way you caught the motion of lite beam as well the shadows blend in to make for a cool illusion. Is that a fan in motion??

interesting light and shadow play. Comp. is pretty good and the colors are unusual - they compliment the overall treatment very well. Thanks for sharing.

Best,

surprenant effet mais très réussi. L'œil était dans l'escalier!

This is a terrific shot! When I saw the thumbnail, I assumed it was a flower macro, only to be pleasantly surprised by a neat abstract playing with lights and shadows. I don't know if I would have done anything to this shot if I were taking it, it's pretty awesome all around.

Very nice graphic image. Interesting composition and texture quality to this one. Well captured.

Many thanks for the comments, I really appreciate it.

To post on Vazaar I made the image smaller and sharpened it afterwards because of lack of sharpness. Despites I sharpened less than the other posted images, I clearly see now that is still too much.

@Beamer: thanks for the explanation, I definitely need to pay much more attention to that.

I think that you have seen a great opportunity here Paul. I like that you have used the b&w to highlight the strong geometric shapes. Well done.

Smooch added a critique 15 days ago:

Nice texture, lines, and tonality. Interesting subject and precise craftsmanship of the builders. I'd like to see more of these structures. What are they used for?

lightningPaul (Paul) said 14 days ago:

@Smooch: thanks for the comment. On my photo blog I posted a series of three images regarding such towers, together with some explanation. You'll see two shots of the top. I could send you some other images showing you the full construction if you like.

Bonita composición donde los árboles parecieran querer enseñarnos todo el paisaje. Desde mi opinión un poco menos de luz darían mas fuerza a las montañas. Saludos

Beau BW mais pas vraiment un high key à mon avis

boyd added a critique 1 month ago:

I have never shot snow, but I can only imagine how difficult it is to get the exposure so perfect that the details are visible in such an expanse of white. I like the drama of the trees in the foreground and the subtle pattern to the clouds. Well done again.

un beau modèle et une belle image de la tentation. Les ongles noirs sont un peu génants ainsi que la variation de la gamme chromatique entre le centre de l'image et surtout le bas

This is a great shot and a great model, but the pose does seem a bit forced to me as well. I like how the lighting fades from the middle. That's a cool idea :) Great shot!

Oh, sorry I wasn't clear. I like the second one more.

Of, als je Vlaams bent gewoon in het Nederlands: De tweede vind ik mooier :) (ik zag net pas dat u uit België komt en gezien uw achternaam vermoed ik dat u Vlaams bent).

the reflection and the lamp post are certainly competing for attention
i am very interested in the use of color
i would like to see it cropped where the lamp is not in the center

Millions of people in the mainly Roman Catholic country of the Philippines celebrate Easter every year, with some penitents following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ even up to the point of being nailed to a cross.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 month ago:

OK, looking at these is reverse order now, this is the least of the "3". This would punch so much more with a stronger tonal range. I still vote for the middle one.

charcoal (Christie LaMountain) added a critique 1 month ago:

really great to see these three together as a series
i think this photo works better on its own vs the other two
