I really wanted to capture the strange beauty of the color, and other-worldliness of the scene that afternoon.

warreagle (Amy Warr) added a critique 8 months ago:

the color is definitely strange...reminds me of the description of charn in "The Magician's Nephew". Seems like it needs more definition in the sky...clouds maybe??? I'm not sure.

Pradeep (Pradeep P) added a critique 8 months ago:

Its other worldly alright, lovely color too. I just wish it was a tad bit more sharper, also the tree is very much centered, i would prefer some more negative space. But hey, i could be wrong :)

mysight (Carl H. Sr.) said 8 months ago:

Amy,I feel it does have a blankness to the sky.
Pradeep,I wish I could have held the camera more steady too.I forgot about the centering.I wasn't trying to center it,I was just trying to get an angle without all the other trees in the shot.
Thanks for the input y'all.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 8 months ago:

I wish, along with Pradeep, that this was in focus. The shot has real possibilities, but its lack of focus is tough to overcome.

Best,
Jon

Best I could do with handheld point and shoot.
I wanted to share the colors.
This is straight from cam, only cropped a little.

This is interesting. I would suggest you crop away the left half of the frame. I'm also wondering about the color balance of the sky.

mysight (Carl H. Sr.) said 1 year ago:

Thanks Linda and Willie.
I don't know about color balance,
I just took the picture, came straight in and posted
it as is. It was night-time.

Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 1 year ago:

Yikes!!! That could make your hair stand up.

jeninja-inja (Jenine Lindeque) added a critique 1 year ago:

OK I'd wet myself! Great timing!! I wish those stupid trees would move out of the way!

palves (Pedro Alves) added a critique 1 year ago:

get a better motive.

mysight (Carl H. Sr.) said 1 year ago:

Well Pedro,I don't know what you are trying to say.
It is just a simple un-enhanced photo.
Better motive,a better reason to post a shot?

Blumie (Sabine) added a critique 1 year ago:

Well, yes, it looks different - another red - but in the most perfect light situation. I bet, when you have a knife like this, you have seen it in different lights in different colors. I am impressed by people, who do shots of unusal - or better very usual - things, making them look like a little supermodel. So for me it is a very good job.

mysight (Carl H. Sr.) said 1 year ago:

Wow,thank you Blumie!
I really appreciate your comment.
I know the focus is not the best,
but I just wanted to share my idea for Red.
I got this knife from my deceased buddy Ed Jett.
To me it is special.

Blumie (Sabine) added a critique 1 year ago:

For me this says a lot. When you are older than - lets say twenty - you already lost a special friend. Thats a sad, but very true thing. You have something, that reminds you of your friend, thats good. And now I know, why you have choosen this one to present it and why you have presented it in a very special way. Thanks for sharing that memory.

Lea (Lea Mulqueen) added a critique 1 year ago:

Pretty Mom, pretty baby!

You asked for constructive critism, but I think the image is terrific. Obviously shot in a hospital, so you were very limited with lighting options. The direct flash as left some glare on Moms face but I think that could be removed fairly easily with editing software.

This is an image to treasure!

Beam_er (Brent) added a critique 1 year ago:

The only thing I could suggest is a bit tighter crop. The metal top to the IV stand is a little distracting.

Great image.

mysight (Carl H. Sr.) said 1 year ago:

Thanks Brent.Cropping the top would lose the top of
her hair.I tried.

LadyWings (Kara Brothers) added a critique 1 year ago:

You could clone it out, instead of cropping it.

Did (Did) added a critique 1 year ago:

In addition, I think the black and white processing is too dark and not enough contrasted.

I took this picture of the sky during a lightning storm at night.
It is just as I shot it,and unedited in any way.
I just like the color that came from the lightning.

Topher (Christopher Mueller) added a critique 1 year ago:

For me - the sole positive comment about this shot is how abstract it seems. Looks like watercolor to me. But lacks anything to really pull me in. Maybe if you caught more of the sky - or if the clouds were that interesting and you had big sky to work with, adding a point of reference?

Un-edited,clouds and pines for my southern
pine tree friend,Sher.

mysight (Carl H. Sr.) said 1 year ago:

I've always wanted to capture the beauty
in my back yard.
I love my pine trees, with their branches.
In the fall,I don't rake any leaves,
just needles.

mysight (Carl H. Sr.) said 1 year ago:

This is my favorite drunken photo.
I hope it still looks good in the morning!
I find it so difficult to capture and share the beauty I see around me.

Lamdennison (Leigh-Anne Dennison) added a critique 1 year ago:

Carl, I think it is a wonderful capture of the beauty you're lucky enough to see every day -- especially for a shot comletely unedited.

Dream (Toni) said 1 year ago:

it also seems most everyone here has kitties in the pet topic.

Rob_Hilliard said 1 year ago:

Those orange cats...they do have a temper and mind of their own don't they? We have 2 orange cats...I call them both bastards..in the nicest way. Trouble makers the lot of them! Keep you on your toes for sure.

I am sorry if this is one you lost. Its always very hard to lose a friend and companion.

Sher (Sher Hilliard) said 1 year ago:

Adoreable photo Carl...to critique, not perfect focus...but that doesnt matter when its a friend does it? As my husband said...little bastards...they keep you paying attention. They keep you on watch. I too am sorry if this is one you lost. We have buried about 6 or 7 kitties now...and its always hard. They capture you with innocence, love, and adoration. It is so hard to say goodbye sometimes.

Dream (Toni) said 1 year ago:

yeah they like to steal your food, those orange kitties. and pretend they arent doing anything and be all sweet to your face, once your back is turned it's all over
