Ok. Is it a bug or leaf material? If it is a bug I would like to of course see the head. I like the image. If I knew what it was I would probably love it.

for me, the DOF is actually a little too shallow for this, or perhaps just focused on something other than what I want to see. I'd like to see the head, but at the same time, since it looks like it's mounted on something, my eye is drawn to that but can't really distinguish anything, making me want to see what is behind the subject more clearly. Perhaps if the head/front were more in focus and the background even more blurred it would work better for me.

I'd have to agree, the dof is shallow. It's very difficult to tell exactly what you're looking at.

It seems to me that extremely shallow DOF is the main raisin of this shot. I like it.
Sorry for my english

Thanks guys. It's not a bug or a leaf, but a rose hip. I think the most detail was the side of the rose hip that you see in the picture, but I do take your points about it being a little unclear what it is. I actually quite liked this because it did look a bit alien and weird ;-)

These are strange plants - my gran has some in her garden and i've always struggled with processing any images i've shot of them - however here you've done a great job! I really love the detail brought out in the b&w nature of it - very nice work!
