Maybe if the background was muted down slightly, bring more attention to the figure. Great shot though, I saw many like this in Bali but nothing worth posting like this one.

Bonita foto, las sombras aportan fuerza, tal vez un poco quemada en la parte superior derecha, me gustarĂa verta en color.

Definately frosty but the image lacks focus. I love the glittering of the snow, that is well captured.
It is not a bad image, but it could be more exciting.

Nice black and white. Maybe a little more contrast, just a little. I think the minimalist approach is nice. I might have cropped the shadow along the top of the image.

Perhaps a little more DOF? mute out some of the foreground and background to bring focus on the center branch.

So much feeling! I love it! A pine struggling against mother nature.

this is really cool and i like how you composed the minimal trees with the snowy field. but i think it would be better with sky or another subject which i could catch...
TerynYancey (Teryn Yancey) added a critique 1 year ago:
beautiful. wouldnt change anything. i love how the trees stand out.
thoughtdujour (thought du jour) added a critique 1 year ago:
simple and beautiful. I would not change anything. I love how the snow has blanketed the land leaving no other character of the land, not the curvature of hills, the outcrop of rocks...just the trees.
wonderful.

Very pretty and dreamy. Almost makes me feel warm and cozy, if that makes any sense. I love the framing.

Very beautiful scene, lovely warm tones. I might say the orange is a bit too vibrant but then again it could this monitor.

What beautiful sihouettes against a brilliant orange sky. Nicely captured.

The orange is a nice contrast against the blue sky, very beautiful.

This is just beautiful. The warmth of the colors against the dark looming sky are very nicely captured.

Is this a double exposure? Or looking through a tank? either way it works really well

All very interesting feedback, folks. Thanks for the great ideas and new perspectives. Keep in coming, I'm all ears.
aloha_photo (Jeff Sisemoore) added a critique 1 year ago:
What stands out in this photo is your excellent use of light, raked across the face of the mountain, revealing the texture of the rocks, and then lighting up the thin shore line in front of the darker trees. Having it in duplicate because of the reflection makes it all the more attractive. It's this use of light that makes the image work so well. Nice work.
florence (flo g florence) added a critique 1 year ago:
light is perfect, just a little question: why do you crop the top of the mountain?
CodeRed (Cody Redmon) said 1 year ago:
Hi Florence. Thanks for the inquiry. The real reason I cut the top is because I couldn't fit it all into the frame. At the time I felt the light, stones and reflection were the most powerful elements, and captured those. Interestingly, since then I've come to feel that the most important element is, in fact, the mountain that no one can see - strange as it is, I think I got this one right. Had I cut the reflection, no one would have said, "Hey, where's the rest of that reflection?" BUT, everyone is asking, "Where's the rest of that mountain?"...which I don't think is a bad thing - it makes one think a bit. There's a distinct point when the theory behind a technique is fundamentally flawed and it presents itself easily. In this case I feel I ran into some peculiar luck in presenting a question as much as a photo. Again, thanks for your inquiry and feel free to comment back.

I agree, it makes the focus more on the reflection.

I agree with all points above but one I might add is, it'd be nice to see a very subtle gradient in the sky to a tiny bit of depth, just a thought :)
luan (Luan Huynh) added a critique 1 year ago:
I agree with oz_sprog that you should try to create a sense of depth in this image, which may add more interest and retain the viewer's eye a bit longer. Otherwise it is excellent.

I must be the dissenting voice. I would have wanted more contrast with a darker sky - and maybe a star in the lower left strong point?
But still, I like it as it is....
cashleym (Ashley Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:
Very nice, though I must agree that I wonder how it would look with a bit of a darker sky. But still very nice.

Nice photo. I like the different shades of green that make up the picture. Well done.
