Talking about seizing the moment! Glorious lighting!
I bet a few moments later it was gone!
Very good job capturing it! Great photo!

The picture is quite particular, I directly want to turn my head. But I don't see the low light here...

A striking composition in black and white.
I like the perspective. The light in the upper right hand corner is a bit distracting but not enough to mar the photo for me. Being darker would help draw my eye to a more pleasing vanishing point. For instance when I cut the top third of the picture off it's more pleasing because I focus on the wooden planks going into the distance. But - a very nice still-life.

Orang Asli in the Taman Negara National Forest, Malaysia, I love to know what people think :)

I wish the eyes were better lit up and that the photo was more off-center. Preferably in portrait mode. I also think the background is a little disturbing by not being OOF enough.
You could try cropping it.
What were those sticks in his hair?
oz_sprog (Will Williams) said 1 year ago:
I agree about the cropping, it could have done with a bit more. The sticks in his hair are blow pipe darts. Thanks for commenting :0

the movement is awesome-but like the others i would like to see the horse a bit lighter-perhaps in colour
lbstone (Brandon Stone) added a critique 1 year ago:
I really like the darkness of the horse. I think that might just be a matter of personal taste. To me, the darkness adds weight and impact to the image.
My only critique would be that the eye feels unnaturally lightened... I instantly think "Photoshop" when I see it against the darkness of the horse. I understand why you lightened it... I would have done the same. My personal preference would be to do it a little more subtly, though, so it appears more natural.
My apologies if I missed the mark and it wasn't artificially lightened. ;) If that's the case then, I'm impressed that you could catch the light like that.

Ibstone - The lighting of the eye wasn't photoshopped, that's all natural. I did run the image through PS to adjust the levels and a little contrast though. The image was orginally color, well yellow since I forgot to remove the filter when I changed slide film! My slide scanner I think emphasised the eye lighting effect when I scanned it as B&W and I liked it, I just need to know what other people thought :O Thanks for commenting!
