This would be MUCH better is you had centered the neck. It is so close to being symmetrical that it really begs to be centered.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 16 days ago:

hm then i think it woiuld be the best, when i cut something from the right edge. i must say that this is straight from cam, what you wont often see from me ;) i think i must also have one with the neck in the center ;)
it whas a quite crazy action to get the bass and the sky correctly ;)

ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) added a critique 15 days ago:

Wow. Looks like a building from the thumbnail! Great shot.

pao_alfonso (Pao Alfonso) added a critique 2 days ago:

i'd agree on the centering. the leaves on the lower right are also a bit distracting. i love the focus, though, and the textures on this photo. it's an interesting perspective.

I was just thinking the same as Bastian, more of a skyscape. I like the drama of this and the framing is nice.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 16 days ago:

well i saw the nature topic before i saw the skyscape topic ;)

ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) added a critique 15 days ago:

Nice rendering of adverse weather, the clouds ahve come out nice. 2 cm crop from the top would make this a stonger image.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 15 days ago:

maybe :D but i used it as wallpaper so i had to use this format :D

pao_alfonso (Pao Alfonso) added a critique 2 days ago:

i'd love to see just a teeny bit more of the ground, but you captured an amazing cloud formation here. i'd feel so tiny looking at something so vast.

well really nice colors

ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) added a critique 15 days ago:

Great composition and nice colors. I feel the image is a tad less sharp though.

Smooch added a critique 13 days ago:

Very relaxing image. I love the color. I guess I'll have to fight Beamer for the hammock though.

kseniaC (ksenia) added a critique 12 days ago:

i love the contrast of the colors and the composition
very nice picture :]

kseniaC (ksenia) added a critique 12 days ago:

the mood that youve been able to capture with this shot, is utterly fantastic.
there is soo much emotion and so much story behind it..
i think its awesome!
and i actually like the square format for the photo..
i think it makes a greater distinction between the road and the infinite sky..
but awesome shot!!

Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) said 12 days ago:

Thanks

ErikUnger (Erik Unger) added a critique 9 days ago:

The look works perfectly for this picture. The runner, the car, and the power lines make a great horizontal line across the middle of the picture. I'd also have to agree with cropping the sky just a bit. Very nice work.

do you feel the heat? beautiful capture.

Wow, this is magnificent! Nothing needs to be said!

ErikUnger (Erik Unger) added a critique 9 days ago:

Very beautiful and the colors are amazing. I must say, I am very jealous of all the amazing JT pictures you are able to take.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 9 days ago:

Thanks Erik, it helps when you live an hour and a half away!! I call JT my church. It's where I go to recharge and talk to God without religion getting in the way.

Afoklala (Jan Willem van Dormolen) added a critique 8 days ago:

The colours are amazing...
I also like the way the fern (?) breaks up the long straight horizontal cloud.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 7 days ago:

@Jan: Thanks! The plant you refer to is commonly know as a Joshua Tree, the namesake of the National Park. It is in the Yucca family. This is a young tree with only one stalk, examples of more mature trees:

Nice "firey" treatment Will. I like it all except in the exposed sky I would like to see some color not pure white. Maybe a little pass thru Lens Distortion correction also?

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 16 days ago:

looks quite smooth and warm...
well i prever from forest pictures theese melancholic black and white pictures, but this one is also cool

boyd added a critique 13 days ago:

I think that the perspective and colours work exceptionally well here to convey a sense of "autumn". The shadows also play off nicely with the backlighting and dark trunks to help set the mood of the sun still low in the sky. Nice work.

kseniaC (ksenia) added a critique 12 days ago:

oo
i love love love this shot!
ive always wanted to spend a fall in a place like this...
youve captured the very essence of the season..
great shot!

ErikUnger (Erik Unger) added a critique 9 days ago:

Lighting and colors are fantastic. It's just the shame the sky is a bit blown out, but even then, it is still a very nice picture.

Good work!

Olegslayer added a critique 28 days ago:

When I first saw this picture as a thumbnail, I was drawn to it because of the beautiful colors. I was also almost positive that it was an HDR of some sorts, but I love how the darkness on the left where the photographer is draws you towards the light, where the photographer's picture would be. I absolutely love it!

meyli added a critique 24 days ago:

Excellent one ! Especially for the sky...

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 16 days ago:

nice sky, and nice contrasts, but i think that the other photographer is a bit disturbing...

HuubL added a critique 13 days ago:

Great shot. Lovely sky and the you did well with lighting up the foreground. I think the photographer is nice. I like inclusion of people. He could've been a little bigger though.

Is this a silver based b&w negative?? Because ICE is know not to work at all for b&w negatives. The only b&w negatives that can be cleaned with ICE are the C-41 process, dye based negatives, I thought?? When I try to force ICE on with my Nikon Coolscan and then scan a TriX or FP4 negative the results are totally useless.

Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) said 19 days ago:

Oh yeah I didn't think about that, yeah, this isn't a real B/W negative. It's one of those Kodak fake B/W negatives which are regularly processed C-41.
Interesting that ICE doesn't work with real B/W negatives, thanks for the information.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 16 days ago:

hey die kratzer machen das bild erst toll ;) ohne siehts eher langweilig aus...

boyd added a critique 13 days ago:

Gee, I get hammered for having *real* grain evident in scans of FP4 and HP5 and then this!! The problem (if you can call it that) is C41 b&w negs tend to have very smooth tonal range, making it very difficult to fake the vintage look. I like the perspective you have of the subject, but there are just too many inconsistencies to be convincing in a vintage sense because it is too polished (and why does a hair or some other dirt on a neg - shown as a white line - skip the dark bridge????).

Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) said 13 days ago:

Yeah I see what you mean, and I agree, but considering it's small age of 3 years I'd say this negative looks pretty vintage :)

Ah a 5 sting bass, nice reflections in this too. I wish I could see the "V" in the name better, small thing though...

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 16 days ago:

well i focused the knobs and the reflections there, i i had focused the V you wont see all knobs correctly i think that this would be more disturbing

ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) added a critique 15 days ago:

"psychedelic camouflage" is a good way to describe this building. I felt the stairs, doors and stairway supports added a bit of stability to the confusion of colors. I'm glad you like the overall effect. :)

Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) added a critique 25 days ago:

Well-seen, well-captured. Good image!

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 17 days ago:

Very cool subject. But very "documentary" framing, if that's what you were going for, then you did well. This just looks like something you could have explored a bit to find more drama/interest. I find little bits that are interesting, but as a whole it looses me pretty quickly. My fav part is the little air conditioner(?) unit under the stairs.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 16 days ago:

nice wall... looks like a comic, not really real^^

ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) added a critique 15 days ago:

IMHO perfectly seen and composed. Looks just great. You may even crop out the bottom strip of ground and it will be a winner. Congratulations.
