looks cold and wet!! Touch too dark for me personally but it may ahve been what you were going for.

klear added a critique 1 year ago:

I actually like the feel of the cold and wet, maybe just needs a subject to give more interest

TheAntipodes (Menno van Zaanen) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the dark and wet look as well. Very gloomy. It could have a little bit more contrast (for example, the grass could be a little bit lighter).

Myke (Michael) said 1 year ago:

Thanks for the comments. I was definately going for the gloomy look on this rainy, overcast day.

KerriDoodle (Kerri) added a critique 1 year ago:

Brooding comes to mind. I like the darkness as well; the shadowing reminds me of the last light from the sun - almost a soft spotlight effect from above - just before the chaos of an unexpected storm hits.

The abrupt formations in the background almost look as if a monster is emerging from the valley.

Very nice. If two center twigs were removed this would make a nice stock photo image. I agree the color could use a little bit of punch, but since my monitor is not calibrated to your monitor I can't be sure that would be a good thing.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 1 year ago:

woa good shot, and good dof, really also the bird looks good, this red...

rdavs (Rhonda Spencer) said 1 year ago:

Thanks everyone, never even thought of removing twigs- great critiques! Interesting on the red, the cardinal looks redder in PS than it does posted on line.

Wonderful photo.

un rouge un peu terne mais l'arrière plan le met bien en valeur. Dommage pour le bout de queue manquant

i love the delicateness & vibrance!

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 1 year ago:

well it looks nice, the dof is mostly ok, but the top is too blurry. the colors are very good.

Pixim (Eric) added a critique 1 year ago:

Beautiful photograph, that does not astonish me by you that this one is straight from cam.
Could you light me, for this topic, we must present a JPG left straight of the apparatus, or can one present a RAW to develop with the neutral values of the software. Thank you for your assistance and greetings.

AnaGaztelu (Ana Gaztelu) added a critique 1 year ago:

Bonita fotografía, los tonos del color son estupendos, me habría gustado ver mas de ella. Podría encajar perfectamente en otros "topics".
Saludos

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 1 year ago:

I only shoot Raw, so for me it means a baseline convert in PS CS2 Camera Raw and a little cropping, which is exactly what this one is.

soreks (Fedor Soreks) added a critique 1 year ago:

The surface is not planar, colors and DOF vary, there is no regularity so this does not work well as a texture.

A texture on irregular surface is a nice idea though.

Sher (Sher Hilliard) said 1 year ago:

Thanks Pipet, I'll give it a try.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 1 year ago:

well the pic is cool, but it is more that just a texture^^ there is well dof, i dont know if this is good or bad in this topic^^

Sher (Sher Hilliard) said 1 year ago:

This is mold growing on a chocolate cake. I was fascinated by the variety of colors of the mold!

nattfodd (Alexandre Buisse) added a critique 1 year ago:

Before reading your explanation, I would have put my money on underwater lichen (or whatever this is called in english). Beautiful colours, but I'm having trouble finding out which parts are sharp and which aren't. There also seems to be some oversharpening, especially in the yellow part. Perhaps a shallower DoF would have worked better?

Wow!! That is just beautiful!!! I wish the plants didn't look so much like shadows in the bottom left but I understand there's not much you can do about that. This so pretty. It's like I'm there! Great job!!

klear added a critique 1 year ago:

Wow - incredible light. You may not need as much on the right since it is much less interesting than the center to left portion - but I just really like this.

TheAntipodes (Menno van Zaanen) added a critique 1 year ago:

I actually like the balance of light and dark in the left and right part of the picture. Very nice.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 1 year ago:

is this the gradn canion? well the lights are very good but i think the horizoon is not horizontal, there is also a bit noise in the the shadows, but the pic looks still great

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 1 year ago:

Yes, this is a view from Mather Point at the Grand Canyon, AZ. I double checked the horizon, and it is very straight, I even did a lens distortion correction on this. The way I check this is to scroll our browser up to where you can use the bottom of the toolbar as a guide to check horizontal straightness. Glad you like the pic. This light is about 30 minutes after sunrise. If you ever get the chance this is one of those "don't miss" places in the USA, IMHO.

i agree with the first comment
i don't think fog is the main subject.
strong atmosphere

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 1 year ago:

nice looks a bit like a paintig, i like it

mikeock (Mike Adams) added a critique 1 year ago:

I really like the atmosphere of this shot.
Great painting like effect!
Wonderful colors.
I agree that maybe a crop of the bridge would help a bit as this would bring the fog in as the main focal point.
I think that the photo does fit into this topic as is, it just does not jump out at you!

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 1 year ago:

i like the reflections on the fenze

aperture (Suvir Venkataraman) added a critique 1 year ago:

I really like the idea. But I agree with the first comment, I think the fog lends atmosphere and is not the subject. Also I'm a little unsure of the tones in the sky, they don't appear to fit well.

this is amazing. love the lines and shapes that are made.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) added a critique 1 year ago:

well not bad, but the graininess seems to diturb this pic^^

TammyLynn (Tammy) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the composition of this, and that it's in black and white. I wasn't sure what I thought about the graininess when I first saw it but the more I look at it the more I like it. It's so simple yet captivating. I really like this. Looks like one of my friends paintings. :-)

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

I agree this is great and I do think the grain is a plus. Well done!

TheAntipodes (Menno van Zaanen) added a critique 1 year ago:

I think the grain is a little bit too much. The composition is really nice. The contrast of the boat and its reflection make a very interesting part of the picture.

Very nice, great variety of tones. I think the text on the sign seems a little out of place though. I think it would be more powerful cropped so we could only see the architecture, leaving us wondering a bit about what the structure is.

All in all, however, it's a great image which I have thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you.

Pixim (Eric) added a critique 1 year ago:

Very beautiful management of the light, certainly another framing would have been interesting, but the conditions of catch of sight were to be difficult. I like your B&W. Greetings.
