Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 16 days ago:

This would be MUCH better is you had centered the neck. It is so close to being symmetrical that it really begs to be centered.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 16 days ago:

hm then i think it woiuld be the best, when i cut something from the right edge. i must say that this is straight from cam, what you wont often see from me ;) i think i must also have one with the neck in the center ;)
it whas a quite crazy action to get the bass and the sky correctly ;)

ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) added a critique 15 days ago:

Wow. Looks like a building from the thumbnail! Great shot.

pao_alfonso (Pao Alfonso) added a critique 2 days ago:

i'd agree on the centering. the leaves on the lower right are also a bit distracting. i love the focus, though, and the textures on this photo. it's an interesting perspective.

I was just thinking the same as Bastian, more of a skyscape. I like the drama of this and the framing is nice.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 16 days ago:

well i saw the nature topic before i saw the skyscape topic ;)

ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) added a critique 14 days ago:

Nice rendering of adverse weather, the clouds ahve come out nice. 2 cm crop from the top would make this a stonger image.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 14 days ago:

maybe :D but i used it as wallpaper so i had to use this format :D

pao_alfonso (Pao Alfonso) added a critique 2 days ago:

i'd love to see just a teeny bit more of the ground, but you captured an amazing cloud formation here. i'd feel so tiny looking at something so vast.

Ah a 5 sting bass, nice reflections in this too. I wish I could see the "V" in the name better, small thing though...

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 16 days ago:

well i focused the knobs and the reflections there, i i had focused the V you wont see all knobs correctly i think that this would be more disturbing

ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) added a critique 15 days ago:

The grass on the upper left corner distracts.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 14 days ago:

ah youre right on this small version it really does ;) in the bigger version it looks better ;) but i only can upload this small version

not a very interesting angle

sfkp (Tamara) added a critique 2 months ago:

I agree with Christie. Did you try different kinds of angles? Experiment with it, come closer to the plants/flowers and use a shallow DOF. Take a step to the side, go down or held your camera above into the air. I'm sure that garden had may oppertunities.

boyd added a critique 2 months ago:

On the positive side, the exposure seems quite good here with strong colours across the band and very sharp capture of the water. I agree that this location does seem to have lots of potential for you to experiment if you are able to revisit.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 month ago:

They are all right above. Lot's to explore in this scene/subject. Go back if you can and spend 10 minutes with your camera still in your bag. Just walk around, lay down, climb up, explore. You will find the sweet spot. I seem to always do better the second time I am in a particular location.

I think you were on the right track with this shot, but it seems to suffer from a lack of a focal point. My eye is all over the place and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be focused on.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Holger,

Nice shot - great colors and light! I'm not sure, like Stephen, what the focal point is, but I think it works!

Best,
Jon

afrohucker added a critique 9 months ago:

great shot. and the colors really flow with the picture..like both jon and stephen said i agree. not too sure what to be looking at.. but one thing that gets my eye is that brown rock in the middle. just grabs my eyes everytimee.

I love this type of photography...If I lived near a stream like this...that would be all I would take photos of...very nice job!

Even though this is a landscape my eye searches for a subject… A person walking into the bend of the road would make this a much stronger photo.

susiej (Susie Janowski) added a critique 1 year ago:

I would have liked to be able to see more of that stone wall. That's so beautiful!

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Very nice as far as it goes - but where is it going? Needs a stronger subject.

Best,
Jon

here i have to add something to this photo:
it was NOT taken by me, it is taken by the person showing it. i only did the post-processings. i hope that this is ok, if not, i will delete it ;)

Onno (Onno Bruins) added a critique 9 months ago:

This could be a nice shot, but the postprocessing is a bit too much for me. Reminds me of the black metal scene, the makeup that is.

I'd like to see the original. Not really a group of people though.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

I think this could be a strong photo - the red eye distracts too much from the overall effect, however.

Best,
Jon

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 9 months ago:

@ onno:
well this shot rminds you at the black metal scene... well the aim of my post processing was that it looks a bit like a picture from victoria frances or luis royo...
erm well it really is not a GROUP of poeple... but does this matter?

Eye_See added a critique 1 year ago:

Very nice picture. However, on the monitor that I am using right now, the colors seem a little too saturated. The blue in the water dosn't appear natural. I'm not using my computer, maybe all photo's are super-saturated on this computer.

diezel99 added a critique 1 year ago:

I disagree the saturation is very pleasing, you've also got an awesome DoF and clarity, nicely done!

tzirlott (Tom Zirlott) added a critique 1 year ago:

It is a very nice very deep photo. I am unsure where the blue on the rocks is coming from.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 1 year ago:

this blue is a reflection from the sky^^

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Nice capture - love the exposure and colors you have created.

Best,
Jon

I think a better option might have to use a longer exposure.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 1 year ago:

well it was the longest available on my cam^^

Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 1 year ago:

I understand that your camera is not able to make a longer exposure, but a longer exposure is really what is needed to pull off a shot like this. There really isn't enough detail here to give it impact.

The topic noir is a tough one to figure out, but for me, I'm not really getting the connection here. I don't think my submission hits the mark either. I'm getting a better understanding what was intended from other submissions.

imagenature (Alexander Belokurov) added a critique 1 year ago:

Sorry, it does not make it for me either.... You had to take it a bit earlier with more light available.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 10 months ago:

This isn't bad, but doesn't say enough.

maybe not so surreal, but colours are great!

leaves added a critique 1 year ago:

most definitely surreal in my opinion. im surprised nobody commented on the really long line in the left of the photo - what is it? i love the orange sky.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 1 year ago:

these line are straws, that's the beginning of this meddow

lethaeus (fabien a.) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the treatment, nice colours

PhotoDaniels (Stephanie Daniels) added a critique 1 year ago:

I see the surreal. It's very dream-like to me. I like it. The color in the sky is a little bright for my taste, but overall I really like this one!
