it looks like a little bit over exposed. I like it anyway :)

Nice! Clear and I love the colors. Nice composition.

Great! Nice composition and attention to detail.

turkana (César) added a critique 11 months ago:

pure forms!! I like it so much. The composigtion is good although I crop the picture with the roof in the bottom left.

Eye_See added a critique 11 months ago:

I agree with turkana. Cropping the left side would create a more dynamic photo.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 8 months ago:

The composition is weighted too heavily on the right side - interesting subject and good for the topic.

Best,
Jon

beautiful picture !

pouhou (Tony LUJIEN) added a critique 11 months ago:

Wow
fantastique atmosphere on this one the gradien mist
the rays on the left give depht to the framing but the transition between the upper part reduce the impact

GLJ00 (Gary Jagours) added a critique 11 months ago:

Very nice composition.

It's funny that this is the one that is featured. I put this photo into the Critique section a few weeks ago and have made recommended changes that dramatically improve the photo. Here is the updated one, and thx to all who back into this community.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 11 months ago:

Sorry, this is not really abstract at all, IMO. It's a "stylized" shot of trees. I don't wonder for a moment what this is, if I wonder about anything it's way you treated this in this manner. I'm not saying it's a bad treatment, I'm only saying where the mystery lies for me.

pageextent (matt mangan) said 11 months ago:

Thanks for you comment. You're right it's not a really abstract version, maybe I should have put it in a different category, it reminded more of trees after the apocolypse or trees on the moon. I was playing with overexposure and this was the best of many white shots :-)
thx

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Doesn't work as an abstract, but with a little cropping and some straightening, it might work in a different context.

Best,
Jon

I love the streaming light through the trees in the bottom left of frame. Also, the definite line of clouds at the top seem to balance the dark base, and this dark area does give up reasonable detail in my view. I also agree about the b&w, but I tend to bias it over colour.

pageextent (matt mangan) said 11 months ago:

Thx for you comments, I'll try converting this to b&w and see what happens. What I loved about this shot is the light golden tones in the middle, but for the web version they don't really stand out. I think I'll try a couple different versions and see what happens.
thx again

jasonkravitz (Jason Kravitz) added a critique 11 months ago:

maybe you can desaturate the sky but leave the golden tones in the center - could be an interesting effect.

RachelValley (Rachel Valley) added a critique 10 months ago:

Really great fog capture...too bad there was not some more fog creeping in on the foreground to give a muddled perspective...but that of course is beyond your control..

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Potentially a great shot. Needs some cropping on top and bottom, in my opinion. Would make a great black and white with some added contrast.

Best,
Jon

This shot has wonderful depth of interest right across the frame. Very strong composition that is wonderfully presented. Well done.

blaze883r (Fernando Bordallo) added a critique 11 months ago:

I really like two pics! I love the depth on both!

Good job.

oz_sprog (Will Williams) added a critique 11 months ago:

I agree with DCR, a little more contrast to bring out the light streaks, wonderful capture though!!!

Stefan added a critique 10 months ago:

respect, 3rd feature for nearly the same shot. Is there a bug? ;)

however - I like the picture, good work

aloha_photo (Jeff Sisemoore) added a critique 10 months ago:

I like both versions, but think this is the better of the two. Nice work...and impressive determination to keep working with the same image. I've always thought that working on the same photo is a real learning opportunity. In this case, I learned something too. Well done IMHO.

This is a photo that I had up a couple of weeks ago, but it had way too much pink in it and the bench was crooked. Hope this one is a bit better. Thanks to Beamer for his helpful insight.
For me, there is still something with the light in this photo (the original is completely yellow because of the street light), but I've been looking at too long to figure something out. Any ideas are welcomed.

I like it. It is interesting to me. I am drawn to the shape of the tree. Nicely done.

daldao added a critique 11 months ago:

I have only one question. The light on the left side. It´s too bright and distracts my eye of the tree.
Anyway, i like a lot.
Congrats

Jessa added a critique 11 months ago:

Matt I love this picture

The only thing I could think of was maybe to clone out that awkward branch jutting out of the front of the tree in the upper left hand corner.. maybe not even all of it. But I don't know if that would make any real difference. Great job!

pageextent (matt mangan) said 11 months ago:

Funny, I never noticed that branch until you mentioned it and now I can't stop looking at it :-)
Thx everyone.
