Another nice tonal range in this one. Good skin texture also. Perhaps if you turned the body a bit more towards the camera you could have picked up a bit more depth from the curves of the back and the buttocks. I still would've cropped from the top again, but that is subjective at best. I like how the highlights gradually dissolve to black. I think a few white reflectors could enhance the drop off more. Keep up the good work.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

I too think the composition is a bit too tall at the top. I also wish the image was a bit sharper overall. I agree with Smooch, nice tonal range.

pao_alfonso (Pao Alfonso) added a critique 1 year ago:

very nicely done. i love the contour, teh lighting. agree with beamer on the sharpness, though.

davidbl (David Bjørnsten-Lindhard) added a critique 1 year ago:

Lovely picture, it's a well known composition. If you ask me i think your missing the perfect curve, it breaks when you reach somewhat up the back. The other end is just perfect, curves are smooth.

I would also like to see some more "spine" in the picture. This is also a very strong signal so send i believe.

mardy added a critique 5 months ago:

Nice one :-)
I feel that the contrast on her back (along the spine) is too weak: I would either turn the body so that more of the spine is visible (and with stronger contrast), or turn it a bit on the other side so it's not visible at all.

I love it! Maybe you could crop some but just a little. in order to make it more exciting for me:)

JBridges (Jim Bridges) added a critique 1 year ago:

Absolutely beautiful light. (But I'll agree with the others. Crop about 10 or 15 pixels off the right side. But that's just nitpicking.)

kseniaC (ksenia) added a critique 1 year ago:

this is very mystical in some way i cant even explain...but its so alluring...
awesome shot!!

ErikUnger (Erik Unger) added a critique 1 year ago:

The light is absolutely amazing. As others have said, crop out that tiny part of tree on the right and its perfect.

mardy added a critique 5 months ago:

Is it a real photo? :-)
I love it.

Smooch added a critique 1 year ago:

I love the eyes, hair, and expression. I wish the eyes were a bit sharper. The rest can be soft or blurry and it wouldn't matter. A slight tilt to the head may make the composition stronger. Nice image.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

Very nice one. Not much to say here. I'm normally not a fan of borders but here might be a case for a small dark gray border. The top of the image blends totally with the Vazaar white and it seems to loose balance.

sanders (Marc Sanders) added a critique 1 year ago:

Would have been great to have some context even if it was in the form of a title or story such as a girl in a war torn country. my 2 cents.

Ludimaginary (Richard Vantielcke) added a critique 1 year ago:

Great expression, but the blur distracts me.

mihai2k (Albu Mihai) added a critique 8 months ago:

I can see that there are several comments to this photo, i will jump over them and say my opinion, the picture is blurry because likely of the long exposure, I do not know if you used it or not, but it will work just fine a highpass filter applied. Congratulations I like this photo

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

This would be MUCH better is you had centered the neck. It is so close to being symmetrical that it really begs to be centered.

paddlepunk (Holger Neu) said 1 year ago:

hm then i think it woiuld be the best, when i cut something from the right edge. i must say that this is straight from cam, what you wont often see from me ;) i think i must also have one with the neck in the center ;)
it whas a quite crazy action to get the bass and the sky correctly ;)

ApurvaMadia (Apurva Madia) added a critique 1 year ago:

Wow. Looks like a building from the thumbnail! Great shot.

pao_alfonso (Pao Alfonso) added a critique 1 year ago:

i'd agree on the centering. the leaves on the lower right are also a bit distracting. i love the focus, though, and the textures on this photo. it's an interesting perspective.

jellybino (Robyn Shaw) added a critique 9 months ago:

I really like this! For a straight from the camera picture, this is really interesting.

i think it's a nice use of selective coloring. i agree with the comments about the palm, though.

erinelizzybeth (Erin) added a critique 1 year ago:

I love the detail of the fingerprints and how the ring is in colour and the heart shadow. But i agree with above about the palm being a bit of a distraction. But overall i really like it.

jKay added a critique 1 year ago:

I recognize this photo! I recently read an article in one of my many Photography magazines - showing how to do this image. Well done! I would crop out some of the foreground though to give the ring more prominence in the photo.

sanders (Marc Sanders) said 1 year ago:

I would appreciate a reference on this magazine as I have seen the effect in a book before but thought that the hand effect was origional. Thanks

thanks for the comment, gazdi. i did not notice the trees you were referring too, you're probably right. i really should be more mindful of the details that will add more character to the photo. thanks again!

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

Nice image, not much to say. I might crop some off the top to focus more on the cross.

sanders (Marc Sanders) added a critique 1 year ago:

Also blurring the background may have added to the impact of the foreground cross popping out at you.

boyd added a critique 1 year ago:

Yes, I also like the way that you have picked out one cross in front with the sea of them behind. Good use of B&W to emphasise shape and tone.

JaviNavarro (Javier Navarro) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like it too. Perhaps less sky and a little more ground to empathize where it all finishes.

Nice tones and good point of view.

pao_alfonso (Pao Alfonso) added a critique 1 year ago:

i like the point of view and the use of lines in this photo. the tones emphasize the loneliness of the scene, and the lack of human element.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like this one Tamara, very nice tones. Good job on the post treatment. My suggestion would be to crop just a bit off the left to loose the edge of the structure just showing.

Beepsandchirps added a critique 1 year ago:

I love the tones here...I also like the light shining on the top of the tracks on the left. Well done!

Pradeep (Pradeep P) added a critique 1 year ago:

Great shot Tamara, the lines are simply superb. I agree with Clyde about the bit of the structure in the left :)

pao_alfonso (Pao Alfonso) added a critique 1 year ago:

i love the colors, it sort of has an almost-grungy feel to it. I'd fix the horizon, though, if you're not planning to crop off the top portion.

Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) added a critique 1 year ago:

The fence in the background is disturbing.
I don't like the color intensity, but that might just be me.

Ana (Ana Cortez) added a critique 1 year ago:

seems a bit too intense/bright, and I agree about taking that fencing out of the shot.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

As Ana said, too intense process here. It give a natural subject a very un-natural feel.

sanders (Marc Sanders) added a critique 1 year ago:

taking the process even further may have helped take the viewer there and making no mistakes as to the effect you were going for as maybe not natural but really processed.

Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) added a critique 1 year ago:

Oh I see. The only thing you could have done was choosing a different angle, so the sheadows were more obvious to be dropped by the sun.

pao_alfonso (Pao Alfonso) said 1 year ago:

that makes sense. thank you. :)

Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) added a critique 1 year ago:

It's still a really good image though.

mooch added a critique 1 year ago:

This is a very striking image. All the more so for his direct gaze contrasted against the gun and barbed wire. I cannot help but wonder why this is yet to feature.

Ana (Ana Cortez) added a critique 1 year ago:

nothing features anymore on vazaar. it's closed.

But yes, I agree. This shot says a lot. Well done. I love his shirt!
