The first try is a bit darker and less contrasted than this one. But if I add contrast, I loose detail in highlights and shadows.

Nice one, nice subject. But isn't it a bit saturated ?

Good shot. I dont like it technically, but the photo is good. Well done.

Hmmm, another of those "I don't like it..." with no explanation critiques. I like the brilliance of the color in this shot, it screams out the sensory overload that really expresses the essence of most Big Cities. I sure would not be tempted to add additional contrast here as that would probably push the highlights way over the edge into the realm of being blown out. A few of the signs have already gone that far, but in the overall mix of colors, they are ok.

Thanks, Bob, this is the kind of critique I requested. As I said , I made another version where the highlights are less blown out, but I have less details and contrast on the people. I wanted to know if there's a technique to preserve the details in the shadows AND the highlights...

What a cozy cavalvade of lights and colors!
But, since you've aasked for criticism... I would've tried a tighter crop maybe, leaving the dark building on the right out - and maybe even the pedestrians. But I'm not sure about the latter...
That's all my nitpicking self can be fed on :)))
philippe (Philippe Reichert) said 1 year ago:
You maybe right about the crop, but I like the "busy" feeling given by the pedestrians. Thanks for your comment, Bio (can I call you Bio?).
:O)

Thank you, Aurora (what a beautiful name!). I dreamed to see this for many years and I could make it only last year, but I was not disappointed!
