very interesting and unique choice of background, i'm not really sure why but I do like it. Good job!

une DOF osée et créative. La fleur un peu trop centrée pour moi

Drkev (Cristian Vladoaica) added a critique 6 months ago:

i don't see the message in this photo.
The "flower" is right in the middle.
I really don't like the composition.

photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) said 6 months ago:

thanks for the comments, the flour is maybe too centered but sorry it is not right in the middle

DrKev, sorry, perhaps i'm wrong but i don't find your comment very constructive

This says sky, or water, or boats, but not minimalism.

"About "Minimalism"
Created by Paulforrester

Create an image where your subject is the strong point of the image, but only occupying a very small portion of the image space."

i think the boats are not so big in this shot...but thanks for the comment

grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 9 months ago:

I think the shot would "feel" more minimal if it didn't have the cloud across the top, but it is still topical. I like the cloud coming in from the right though.

If I could suggest one change, it would be to increase the sharpness on the boats and smooth out the sky.

andresalegria added a critique 9 months ago:

i like the blue of the sky and the water. the color increases the compatibility with minimalism, but there might be too much going on to be really minimal.

LeStro added a critique 8 months ago:

Great composition, whether minimalist or not. Good job.

very sharp and nice detail.

Geo,

Unusual perspective on this one. I love the light on the little pearls in the bottom left of the photograph. Nice job.

Best,
Jon

burlesot (Todd Burleson) added a critique 9 months ago:

What was your goal with this image? I think the angle is interesting, but I am not thrilled with the composition. Just my humble opinion. I would also suggest that you did not use the flash head on as it appears.

Mardynn (Martin Tomaszczyk) added a critique 9 months ago:

I like the sharpness of this image, I think it would have worked better without a flash, and a better composition.

Really like this shot!! Colours and ice blend perfectly. As well the running water add so much to the general feeling of ice @ water :) Keep the shutter clicken :)

Me resulta difícil comentar algo pues no sé lo que veo y de lo que observo me gusta el toque de color y me sobra una sombra en la parte izquierda a la altura del objeto volador????

boyd added a critique 9 months ago:

I have no idea what this is, but it sure makes for one cool photo. I particluarly like the lines to take the eye up and thru the shot to the main part of the subject - and this feature could afford to probably be even more off-centre.

photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) said 9 months ago:

thanks, this was shot at the European Circus

Geo,

Nice shot! Spectacular and dramatic effect - love the comp. and the originality.

afrohucker added a critique 9 months ago:

not really sure what it is.. but it kinda looks like a fly fishing hook. either way it look really cool and the color is just right with the back ground i think. because you eyes just want to see where it's going.

juanantonio (J.A. Pellicer) added a critique 10 months ago:

Quizá sea un criterio equivocado el mio, pero no pienso que las ramas u otros elementos naturales tengan que distraer necesariamente la atencion. Es más, en este caso creo que contribuyen, junto con las montañas (sobre todo la de la parte izquierda) y los reflejos, a situar espacialmente al objeto, confiriéndole un toque agradable de proximidad al sujeto. Es solo una opinion. Saludos

flipthom added a critique 10 months ago:

I think this image has some real potential. I'm going to have to agree with Nick on the details. I think I'd prefer more or less. In this case, there are some beautiful reflections on that water so it might've been nice to focus on bringing those out and making the girl more of a silhouette. I also find the plants a bit distracting but they're thin and could easily be handled with a few clicks in Photoshop.

crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 9 months ago:

You have a very nice composition and silhouette here (especially with the reflections under the legs), but the blacks are too gray for me. For this type of image I prefer darker grays to blacks for the subject.

You are really submitting a lot or work lately! This is good, but not as good as it might be - the above comments are very helpful, in my opinion. I love the reflecting light in the foreground - amazing!

Best,
Jon

no i did not, i only smash mosquito...perhaps one day i'll upload the terrible end of a mosquito's life in "a shot with a story"...

JimiThing (Jim Machajewski) added a critique 9 months ago:

It is just a little too soft for me. Sharper focus and a bit more contrast would benefit this shot.

crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 9 months ago:

I love the minimalistic look, but I agree with JimiThing about the ant being a tad too much out of focus. Good composition though. Love the fact that the ant is headed towards the open space.
Thomas

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Nice textures, good comp. but a little soft overall, Geo. Thanks for sharing.

Nick (Nick) added a critique 9 months ago:

Silhouettes or shadows.

boyd added a critique 9 months ago:

I agree that this could probably be placed within "Shadows", but that doesn't detract from the fact that this is a very well conceived and executed shot. I love the framing generated by the spotlight and the detail that you have managed to capture within the light's beam. This is nicely set of by the canvas seams of the big top helping to give it all height.

photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) said 9 months ago:

thanks guys for your comment
thanks nick, your constructive critiq will certainly help me making better shot

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

The circus worked out well for you, I guess! Nice shot and well-framed. Thanks for sharing your work.

Best,
Jon

crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 9 months ago:

I just love the concept. Well executed in terms of composition. It's not easy to capture the silhouette of a moving subject in such a way that it's instantly recognizable, but you pulled it off perfectly. Very nice!
