great one vernon.

what's the exif on this? also, what lens did you use?

the dof seems staggering, though maybe it's not really all that deep. straight out of camera? or is it two images overlaid?

VernonTrent (Vernon Trent) said 8 months ago:

yes george, all from the cam.
here's a screenshot from the raw file (includes the exif as well)
lens is a tamron 17-50/2.8

Congrats v.t.! I really like the strange panorama effect in the handle. Superb, as usual. ;O)

I like this photograph, your description of the important detail; the singer. The blur seems to me artificial… Very beautiful image. Greetings.

priestapphoto (Sarah Priestap) said 1 year ago:

thanks! The blur is actually because I used a lensbaby- no photoshop on this one :)

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:

This is certainly a captivating image, the colors seem just a little off to me. The upper sky seems a little too greenish. Was this way it really looked?
And BTW, God put that cloud up there, I say leave it.

aloha_photo (Jeff Sisemoore) said 1 year ago:

The clouds are a bit soft because I left my tripod in the trunk of my car and had no time to get it. I had to hold a telephoto lens steady a 1/5s to get this at ISO 100. (Probably should have moved up to ISO 200 or 400 but it looked pretty sharp in the camera.) The colors are pretty authentic. I did use the sponge tool and then faded it to keep it from being too bright. The original is pretty close to this. I thought about the small cloud but decided I liked having it there and didn't want to tamper very much with this shot because I liked the red clouds and didn't want a sharp delineation between them and the top of the frame. It could have been improved as you've pointed out. (For one thing, I could have brought the tripod into the house.) This was made from the lanai of my home. Thanks for the comments.

I should have added to my earlier observation that I posted this here because I like the soft feel of the sky...sort of abstract in effect and wanted to get some feedback to see if others would like it or not.

Lindy (Lindy G) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the soft feel of the sky and sometimes it is all opinion... I have shots like this that the sky is soft and not so sharp because it looked like that .. I like it alot ... I agree with if that is what you were going for then keep it that way soft:)

leaves added a critique 1 year ago:

i like the soft clouds too, it gives the feel of a very organic airy monster in the sky. the colors are amazing.

Neat picture! Is that a photograph hanging there?

If you think a scan is a photograph, then yes.

Beautiful grime!

priestapphoto (Sarah Priestap) said 1 year ago:

There's a story behind this grime :) This window is in a gardener's shack in alcatraz. Most of the grime is seagull crap- the place is covered in it!
