Fun shot and great framing, though I might crop just a touch from the lower left. There is a bit too much dead space for me. Otherwise, nice capture!

sfkp (Tamara) added a critique 8 months ago:

Fun but scary, too! I agree with ryanopaz. I think it would be even nicer if there was more space on the top of the frame, and we could see more wrist.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 8 months ago:

Ryan, how do you crop the "lower left", can't crop a corner???

I looked at the with the scroll bar test to crop off the bottom just under the bit of shirt showing, can't decide which I like better. It's pretty darn good the way you have it.

I love the character of this, such a tough, hard subject captured with grace and flow, very nice!!

I like the right part of the picture. Maybe you should try to cut out the street. I'm not sure if it will look much better but i would try it.

PiXistenZ said 4 months ago:

I wouldn't cut out anything, the road really adds to the photo.. great shot & processing.

Thanks for your comments..!
This shot is done with my analog Panoramic Cam "Horizon S3 Pro".
Film Kodak Pro 160 VC which gives that vivid colors.

There is no much processing. :-)
I only adjusted the contrast a bit.

/Andy!

Oh yes, it's featured!!
ON VAZAAR!!

That means WAY more than actual feedback!!

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 7 months ago:

@Martine, I wasn't asking why he used PP, just why in this particular case, where the capture seems so brilliant, that he chose this approach to processing, but it seems to have generated a whole emotional response/conversation and an practical answer to my question now seems impossible.

@Andy, I clearly got the fact that you liked this PP approach from the mere fact that you posted it. As for you explanation that the processing focus the subject, well, this subject focuses itself just by his expression and the wonderful nature of his face and the brilliance of the moment. And, IMO, it seems that the PP detracts from that focus not enhances. I would never ask you to post the original. I just am trying to pull out of you what you thought was lacking in the original that this PP brings out or "fixes"??? Please don't take my questions/comments personally, remember this is a discussion about art, there's always going to be disagreement.

Anyway, cheers everyone!!

please stop the emotional discussion....
it's not worth at all. It's just a photo..

:)

have a nice weekend!

Nice zoo shot, I think? The grass doesn't really look like Africa. You captured a very interesting moment, really hold the attention. Did you add the vignetting?? Nice job if you did, helps here.

refocus (andy kämpf) said 7 months ago:

Hey Beamer, thanks for your comment.
and yes your are right. Of course it's a zoo shot ;-) I guess it's really hard to make such a shot in wilderness ;-) And yes, i've added some slight vignetting on it.

All the best
Andy

ErikUnger (Erik Unger) added a critique 7 months ago:

The vignette definitely works, and I like the moment you captured. Can't really say too much.
