I really like this!! The only thing I notice is the very tip of the flower shape is cut out of the image with the crop, but I like the crop. It really works with this image. The soft focus is very nice. I think if you were to include the very top of the flower petal shape, you'd have the perfect image! Great photo!!!

I love this one! It's so magic...

Love all the patterns!

Great use of negative space and patterns. Why did you choose to have the model close her eyes? Just curious as to what you were trying to communicate.
Best,
Jon

Congrats Sarah on the feature. This type of pic makes me wish we got snow here in Melbourne, so that I can take similar shots. love it!

Just a terrific shot Sarah :) reminds me of my childhood looking out in the morning from my bedroom. You captured the light and the frost perfectly. Keep the shutter clicken :)

Geo,
Unusual perspective on this one. I love the light on the little pearls in the bottom left of the photograph. Nice job.

What was your goal with this image? I think the angle is interesting, but I am not thrilled with the composition. Just my humble opinion. I would also suggest that you did not use the flash head on as it appears.

I like the sharpness of this image, I think it would have worked better without a flash, and a better composition.

I love the simplicity and composition of this. The color is fantastic also!

@jon you are not a stick in the mud...you know what you like....so no apologies...this is what a critique is about...This is one of those shots where if I had moved the camera even a hair I would have gotten power lines etc...I took a chance.
@Sara Thanks for your kind words...

I keep seeing this photo and it catches my eye. I always looks like the clouds are moving. I don't know why, but the composition is very unique. Well done.

It works for me. I don't think there's too much empty space really. Very nicely done.

Interesting image, I like it - I like the engaging lines made by the path and continuation with open sky, really draws you in the image. The forest on both sides adds mystery.the b&w is fine.
I think Nick's recommendation regarding the crop is great !
like opening a wider door in your image..
pfeel (Phil Verges) added a critique 11 months ago:
I like it! B&W was definitely the right choice here, it makes much more graphic impact. And I agree with Nick, I would crop it higher also.
crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 11 months ago:
I agree with Nick with regard to the higher crop. If you crop it so the path appears to go on outside of the image it would be better.
Also try to clone out the little branch in the sky. With those two edits I think you would have a perfect image. The sky and the path complement each other perfectly. Good composition though and nice black and white conversion!

selaux (Sarah) added a critique 11 months ago:
i disagree with the crop idea. I think that letting me see the start of the path makes me even more curious to see where and how far it goes. I feel like its a metaphor for the start of a great journey and i dont know where it is taking me or how long it will last. B&W is very effective. Nice work.
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 11 months ago:
I agree with Nick too. The little bit of dirt at the bottom draws my eye out of the picture.
It might be interesting to crop it down so the horizon is in the middle of the photo. It would put more emphasis on the lines going to infinity.

first thing i think of is an ad for WI :) but after that I notice the strong vertical and horizontal lines in the fence, the nice colors and all the great textures. Nice shot.
boyd added a critique 11 months ago:
I like the way the cow on the left completes the cow on the right. I agree with Sarah about the textures, but I would have preferred more sharpness to the shot overall, but particularly the cow on the right.

I'm a fan of "everyday" photography - with little post processing. So, I like this - aesthetically and philosophically.

I tihnk you cropped it to tight, i wanna see more to the bottom. Or make it tighter, focusing on the ropes. And i need the pure blue for the sky :)
photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) said 11 months ago:
in fact i did not have the choice to crop it differently i was on that boat only with a compact camera and no wide angle...

@jvgphoto: for me, now, it's what those books are about. I haven't got a clue, but each time I browse through my archives and come across this photo I wonder what's written inside.
Obviously it's a personal thing for me. I can perfectly understand that this image doesn't invoke anything for you. Thanks for the comment though!

I really like this picture! The colour and the lines really caught my eye. I think the only thing that would make it better is if that volume had specific meaning. But it's ok that it doesn't. Great job!
selaux (Sarah) added a critique 11 months ago:
wow, that color is fantastic! Does that specific book number mean anything to you? Nice job making it stand out either way!

very Lee Friedlander! Well done!
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 11 months ago:
This just misses being a great photo. Super conception and technique. I think the crop needs to come down all the way to the top of the car in order for the comp. to really work. Additionally, my eye keeps going to the tail light which is not the subject. Excellent job, Alex.
Best,
Jon

Very well done. The soft focus and the fact that the model has her eyes closed make this photo even better!
